I'm not having any luck getting the little orings on the piston because they wont stretch. Any advice?

Once again, great work Short! I'm glad I pointed out this oppertunity to you, especially because you've gone above and beyond what my initial expectations were. Then again, at that point I didn't realize you were the $hit, let alone so reliable and on top of everything. So, once again again, nice work!

where exactly do you encounter the problem/how have you been trying to install them?

Sometimes, especially with the higher durometer, they need a little stretch to get on over the piston's front head (although of course you must remove the front-most section where the forward most oring - slightly smaller than the oring on the rear end of the piston but bigger than the two smaller orings located between them - is located before you can install the orings you refer to). I'ver never used hot water to stretch orings, but I imagine it could work. Just be careful not to let the orings sit in a rolling boil for half an hour, although I doubt it's all that easy to damage them if you're even remotely careful via this method.

It's the two tiny ones that go on the piston shaft. I couldn't even get them over the threads. I'll try some how water later today. The larger orings weren't a problem.

yes, as they're so small and made from tough material I can see how it could be a problem. try what ty suggested if not using needle nose pliers (better yet those jewelry/wire shaping pliers that don't have any teeth so you don't damage the orings)

Mikeds,
Do you have any oring picks, or a small spanner wrench? Either make all the difference in the world when it comes to getting those tight/hard little orings on. I know exactly what you're going through; I actually use some 70-durometer sizes in my X-valve that are supposed to be a higher durometer rating just because they're such a PITA to get on... but I have an unlimited supply so changing the softer orings out twice as often isn't an issue for me

Let me know if you are still having trouble and I can stick some 70-duros in the mail for you. The 90s will last longer, but if you can't get them on you don't have much of a choice right?! LOL...

Anyone else have a problem getting the piston orings on, just PM me and I can stick some 70s in the mail for you too

Even with picks and hot water I'm not having much luck...HOW are you guys managing this? I've been able to coax them past the threads but I cant get them onto the wider section just before the first groove. I've broken 3 now. Didn't think I was that ham fisted haha.
