operating pressure of Nelson pumps

what does a usual SC nelson based pumps operate at? I'm new to Nelsons so curious as to what the various markers run at.

approx 600-850psi, normally around 750-850psi (think the pressure of CO2 at room temp). since most, well, all stock class nelson based pumps run off twelve grams, and none of them comes stock with a reg, that range applies to pretty much all of them. the on exception might be the garg, just because it comes with a spiffy valve chamber that can be enlarged a bit, but even then the gun still operates at the pressure of room temp co2 in the stock config. I mean, I've turned many a stock class gun to lower/mid pressure operation with a reg and some other things (i.e. springs) but they certainly don't come stock like that.

Before I took the rear guage off my phantom with AKA regulator running HPA, it was at 550 PSI. with some valve work you can go lower, and different nelson based guns and combinations of internals and springs will also be a factor.

**** this keyboard... I just had a perfect post typed up and somehow shortcutted back and lost it. basically: depends on the velocity adjuster style, higher flowing ones can increase brittle paint breakage, inverse for flow pattern restricting ones. Also, using a regulator to bring the pressure down a bit should also reduce breakage a bit.

a phantom's tpc will work better with brittle paint than an open face velocity adjuster/anti-kind thingy. The former is stock on the phantom, the latter is stock on the ghost (and honestly I have never had problems with brittle paint). The issue with brittle paint seems most significant to short barrel guns (see redux/duck, although again not everyone seems to have the problem even then)

Here is an example for you: Ported/TPC (tuned port compensator) vs Open Face Velocity Adjuster (ignore the captive orings on both)

i find they still blow up brittle paint in the barrel. i ran with a freak bored 14" stock barrel and stock TPC, i had multiple barrel breaks compared to none on my snipers. the lowest i was able to get it to run was around 600-650 PSI with a red hammer spring HPA but it stiffens up the pump stroke.

try co2 and you might have better luck speed, although I know what you mean. I've seen this happen to folks with tpc and normal length barrels occasionally in the past. the brittlest of paint is normally the issue, but who really knows
