3. The sweet spot on Snipers have potential for abuse. This is why I tell people who want to run unregged CO2 or HPA into their Snipers to get a pre-2k valve. Say you start at 280 fps, with the unregged pressure slamming your valve shut. Once your pressure starts dropping you will begin to have insanely high velocity as the gun is reaching its sweet spot the lower you go.

4. Why don't more stock class setups incorporate regulators, as a flat pressure curve is more desirable than a dipping pressure curve, given that you aren't losing many shots, if any.
Great info! In response to point 4., all I can say is: for the sake of simplicity, "purity" and/or stubbornness

Indeed. I found the results to be quite pleasing. got the cocker all assembled, but it's farting. My IVG is all the way out and I'm using a stock CCM setup. Pressure is lower than 300. I'll play with it tomorrow, but any ideas? I REALLY want to get it working pre-saturday.

I completely agree on the purity. I've decided to make this gun a 10 round tube'd open class, and am going to build a brass and wood based on the Sterling design. If anyone has any ideas on this building thing....

I'm currently deciding between a few things

Sheridan valve with an ego-esque bolt setup
Nelson that I'll pretty much rip from an old crappy phantom
Sterling that I'll build from delrin & Aluminum/brass

And

Lever action
Bolt Action
Wooden Pump
Something unique??? (forward pump? Reverse a Nelson setup perhaps? Closed bolt sheridan (Think cocker mixed with KP2))

Tell me what YOU think. I want this to be the people of McB's marker. I'll try and incorporate any ideas that seem feasible to me, and I'll fund the entire damn thing.

This is why a spring kit is so useful

Sorry I can't offer up any better advice though. Maybe try increasing the reg's output to toughen up the pressure closing the valve? Either that or cut a bit of coil off your main/hammer spring until farting stops? ymmv

From what I've read, farting occurs because of either too weak of main or valve, or too strong of main, or too little pressure from reg, or something with a cocking rod. I'll mess with it. I'm ordering a spring kit anyways, but it won't be here for a while.

Nelson Vs. Sheridan?

Nelson's more efficient, sheridan is...?

Also, where would I acquire brass tubes?

talk to Tymcneer; he's got just about any brass barrel/tube/stock you'd probably need or want

and remember, it's tymcneer

Very helpful thread. SC sniper is on the list of projects for this year. I will go regulated to get the max shots per 12g though.

Pdubs - who milled out the feedneck for you? Have any pics of your setup?

I did. I then drilled and tapped for a thread....but I tapped the wrong size, which has lead to just a TON of problems. I'll be making another soon though

No pics right now, at school.
