My PMI Trracer
My first thread here, so I thought I'd share my project.
I wanted to try pump play but didn't have much money, so I got a good condition Trracer off Craigslist for $30. All it took was a 1/4" spacer on the main spring to bring the velocity up to 290. Problem is it shot horribly and could not stop roll outs. Not fun at all. So, being a tinkerer, I couldn't resist modding it. Using what I learned here, I started with polishing the internals, then 45 grip from an extra gun I had around, bottom line with an extra Cocker regulator and finally Cocker threads and bored out pump handle.
So far I've played with this set up once and was very pleased. I used a J&J edge elite barrel kit and Midnight Paintballs and it was accurate enough for me. I just got a Lurker barrel though and am really impressed with the improvement in velocity and accuracy. Five random shots were 285, 285, 287, 287, 285.
Cocker threads for the barrel?
That's cool. Do you want to re thread another? Lol
How was the noise level shooting with velocity up? Mine seems really loud.
I just got a tracer and i have a reg and duck bill asa a well, but i need the 45 frame. What do you suggest? Also, what are the barrel options?
How do you like the reg on thr? Im getting mine back from being rethreaded. I polished internals and planned on using a red madman spring inside. Also using a ifit with stiffi barrel. Should be finished tomorrow..
Also what size tank are u going to use?
There are several folks ok MCB who can rethread the trracer.
With the velocity up, and original barrel, its the loudest on the field :-) Now it is much quieter.
I got the 45 frame off a spyder clone. Many old spyders use the bolt on grip frame.
Barrel options are almost none. Even the ones you can get won't stop roll outs.
I use a 45/45 tank but would like a 13/30.
Im thinking about a 13cu too.. hope to.finish it and ill take pivs. Whats ur reg pressure at?
The regulator was needed to get the velocity down. I have no idea what the pressure is? Lower than the tank pressure for sure.
Here is a video of it in play. Using a J&J barrel kit. Pardon the auto triggering, I was clearing rain out of the barrel.
Nice vid. i love the J&J barrels and thats what i most of my guns.. you running stock springs and do you have a adjustable bolt or not?
I got nothing but praise for the J&J, very accurate and good self cleaning, but I do get roll outs.
Stock springs with a quarter inch spacer on the main spring. Non adjustable bolt.
