Question about an empire sniper pump...

So my return spring flew out the other day when I took apart my marker, and I'm about ready to order a replacement from paintballgateway. My question is, do I just throw the spring in there and thats it? Does it need to be cut down? I'm just wondering if It's going to affect the rest of the marker by ordering a new spring, Here's the link:

Many people prefer not to use a return spring. Just keep your hand on the pump and you'll be fine without it.
