I fell in love with pump play!

Okay, I really need some help. I shot a Kingman Hammer II with a Smart Parts Freak Back[Small insert to stop the balls from rolling out / accuracy and an apex tip, not to mention a custom stock made. Definately one of the best I've shot / more accurate markers. I also shot an 08 Ego that day, and preferred the Kingman Hammer II. The only problem I had was the darn screws on the pump arm kept coming loose.

Here's the issue, I really want one, but have little to no cash. However, I have a n E-Bolted 98 Custom with a Cyclone Feed, Dual Trigger and 16" Barrel. The E-Bolt needs some soldering because of the stupid battery box smashing into the wires. The Cyclone Feed's rachet is stripped.

Would it be a good choice to trade my 98 Custom for a Kingman Hammer II, or other Pump? What would be the highest Quality marker I could get for my 98?

Thanks,

Drew

The hammer two, if I remember correctly is a Sterling clone. You can get new 2007/08 sterlings that accept spyder barrels now and have a really nice .45 frame. I don't think you could get a straight up trade for either though. 98 customs themselves dont' have a lot of value because they're everywhere. The E-bolt may help you, but the cyclone needing work certainly doesn't.

You could likely get a full-body Sniper if you're willing to wait. Lots of people bought up the super-cheap prostocks and superstocks that were flooding the market for a while and put pump kits on them. One of those or an older boring common cocker body with a pump kit would probably pull about the same as your 98 if it's working and if you can find someone interested . A pump like the hammer or any of a dozen other similar pumps would probably be available quicker. But IMO is more limiting, though they have their fans. The problem will be finding someone who wants a 98 custom project gun. Because it sounds like a bit of a project. You'd likely get much better offers if you were to fix the problems with the 98. I'd think you could probably hold out for a reasonably nice sniper if you were so inclined. Your best bet would probably be to fix the 98, sell it for cash, and then buy a pump gun with the cash. Finding someone looking to sell a decent pump gun who would be interested in that trade may be difficult (or I could be totally wrong).

If you're on a serious budget then I'd suggest a Maverick/Trracer option. It may take a bit of patience but with some time you can find one for a whole $25 on ebay like I managed.

I'd also suggest a Tippman SL68 II. My avatar says it all about how I feel about mine. They are going through a wave of popularity right now so prices are up a bit but with luck you can find them for $50 to $70.

Both will require a "trick" to avoid ball rollouts. The common option is a small strip of electrical tape or to clean the barrel and apply some lumps of nail polish or other paint to act as "wedgits" to avoid rollouts.

I'm

I'm buying a NIB Trracer from my friend for $60. It comes with one of those old school hoppers that open from both end, similar to the VL-90 but with twist off lids at each end and one is slightly lower than the other. Does this hopper hold any value, or am I better off running a 180 Round hopper on this gun. Also, I used my 45/4500 Tank on it and it shot fine, Is the valve going to be more efficient on HPA or CO2 because of its age?

60 for a traccer? I guess that might be worth it if its bnib...

if you play pump you can get away with shooting one of the little brass eagle, or winchester pocket hoppers.. 50rd is plenty usually..
You mine as well take advantage of the low amount of paint a pump shoots and keep your profile down..

post some pictures of the hopper, I don't think they are to many collectible hoppers but if there are it'll be on this forum that its sold.

Don't know if the hopper has any value or not but I would definitely use it over the 180 rounder - you won't need that much paint. The Tracer should shoot HPA just fine but may be a bit less efficient. Honestly, you should be able to play all day on a fill.

Have fun! Pump play is a blast.

BTW, nice snag on the Tracer - they are a very good choice and should serve you well.

I happen to own a Kingman Hammer II and you would be hard pressed to get that gun from me. It's old, somewhat beaten, and needs a cup seal, but it's a very unique gun and it took me a long time to find it. It's on the project list for some custom work in the near future...as soon as the pirate pistol, Brass Eagle Raptor Pump abomination, and a restoration of a SNY Pirahna LB are finished...yeah...in a couple of years, maybe I'll be able to find it in the shop.

Butch.
