1st off cool(long) post but it didn't answer the question I have. Ok, so after lusting after a Bushmaster SI for the last 20 years now I finaly get one off ebay for under $100. I'll upload pics later. M16 grip unibody w brass m16 like tip and a knob quick change. It arived today and the finish is nice. I go out to the garage and throw in a 12gram. It dryfires perfectly and doesn't leak. I try to drop a ball in the feed and it sticks. So I check the paint with my calipers to see it swelled and it measured 0.675-0.679 depending where I measure. So I field strip it and try to drop a ball in the aft end of the body and again it sticks. I measured the bolt with my calipers and its 0.590 DIA. I pull the brass tip and measure the front of the barrel and it measures 0.600DIA. It is stamped Bushmaster SI on the body. What do I have here? I never heard of Bushmasters shooting SMG60 paint. I bought this to shoot, not be some wall hanger. Its too big for 50cal paint, too small for even the smallest 68 paint and SMG60 paint hasn't been made in forever, so I've got a little problem here. I'm torn between chucking this in the lathe and making a tight boar unibody then sending back out for ano, putting AC threads in it or overboaring it for a hidden brass barrel. I just really want to know what I have before I decide to do something I can't undo. If anyone has some knolage on this oddity please tell. I'll get some pics taken and loaded tomorrow if I'm not playing paintball. Thanks.Brian |

Wow I just found the MCB bluebook on this. Well I'm definetly not going to FUBAR this in the lathe. ![]() I spent the morning disassembling cleaning it and taking pics. This thing has seen very little action if any. There is no noticable wear on the body under the pump. Unfortunatly the end has been scratched by set screw on the brass tip. To my surprise the hammer is adjustable. I was blown away that they engraved the powertube with "SI" and stamped a 4 on the other side. I love the fit and finish of this marker. Like I said, I've waited 20 years to get my hand on one and I'm truly impressed. I just NEED some 62 cal paint now!! The only downfall is that the screws are allen heads w/ aluminum caps. Here are some pics. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So just how many of these were made and how many survived? Does anyone make 62 cal paint because I would love to see this thing shoot. ![]() I've recieved a few offers to trade this but realy need to think about what I realy want in a SI before I take any offers. I also want to take moment to marvel at the craftsmanship that went into this. So If i don't instantly reply to a PM I hope you understand. Brian |

At the rate paint manufacturers are going we'll all be shooting .62 caliber paint before too long. I believe that Nelson still makes .62 cal. Congrats to you sir! |

Thanks Biscuit. I've contacted Nelson and will hopefully get a price quote and some 62cal paint soon. ![]() Because of the size and weight difference of the paint, What is the safety limit at the chrono for this thing? This gun already looks mean the last thing I want to do is hurt someone.

If I recall correctly we ran SMG-60s at 340.

Unless you play outlaw...in which case your friends can help you figure out a fair limit. Small calibers are meant to go faster...but commercial fields are 300 and under without exception.
