A few questions about nelsons etc.

Right I want to get a new marker, and I just found a buyer for mine (thankfully).
Lets get right to it.

1. Fixed barrel (barrel and body are one-piece) are rollouts common (Nail polish work, tape etc?) I thought about building up a replica or close to replica of the 'franken-nelson' that M.Carter Brown put together on an episode of 'From the Attic'.

2. Does lapco still produce the adjustable bolt, ultralight hammer and the #6 power tube?

3. If somebody wouldn't mind watching that 'from the attic' episode and telling my a list of parts.

So far I know:

Frame- Wintec
Bolt- Lapco Adjustable Bolt
Hammer- Lapco Ultralight hammer
Powertube- #6 Lapco powertube
Valve Spring- Red (Heavy)
Main spring- Yellow (light)
Body-?
Pump arm-?
12 gram quick change-?

4. What springs (most likely) did he use? Phantom springs? Trimmed down cocker springs?

If I can't coax carter to sell me the parts I'll to slowly collect everything since most is not produced anymore, correct?

P.S: Got everything on the list and the blanks? Want to sell? Pm me!

Thanks,

Arpie

According to Carter they were just random Nelson springs he had in a box of parts. He likely won't sell the individual parts since last I heard, the marker was still assembled. Just pick up a Nelson spring kit and experiment a bit till you get the right velocity

Thats the thing, if I can get him to sell me the whole thing (with a few extras) I would. But he said he would think about it, so I don't want to bother him too much. If he wants to keep it, then I'll have to find a way to procure the parts or forget the idea.

Thanks,

Arpie

Bacci will have at least some of the needed parts in his Graduation Sale, but unsure exactly how much is left.

I'll check that out, but I would rather have new-ish internals. But I'll look through.

Thanks,

Arpie

Ugh, I looked through Bacci's thread. Frankly, I'm confused.

Should I build a breech or bore drop?

I think he has everything needed for both (so I might go ahead and buy parts for both).

Are ASAs interchangeable? Will a traccer ASA work on a bore drop nelson?

Got more questions but want to take things slowly.

Thanks,

Arpie

Unless your goal is to make a Franken-gun why not just by a used Bushie or Phantom? LAPCO still makes tubes but I don't think they make the bore drop internals anymore.

You could just get one of the new Grey Ghosts. Lapco internals and you can change the springs to your liking.

I don't see how a light mainspring and a heavy valve spring could get the FPS to a shootable velocity. Seems like you would at least need a medium spring.

Well with a hard valve, medium spring, Lapco internals, #6 tube/fluted hammer/adjustable bolt, on my former nelspot, I was able to get 280fps first shot and 35 shots off 1 12 gram in 80+ temps on the 16th, with 12ie in vert position (stock configuration)...so...it is possible for him to get playable velocity with a hard valve spring, depending on temps and other parts

Yeah I never said it wasn't possible with a stronger main spring. Perhaps I should clarify my post.. I meant he would probably need a medium main spring. Not a medium valve spring.
