My new Ranger pump

My first pump..... I feel like a proud daddy...

I've had it about a week but it's been apart for much of the time cleaning and fondling. A chrono check this weekend showed that it wasn't even getting over 200. So a fresher or stronger spring for the trigger ram is in the works. Just need to find a place with a good assortment of springs.

As yoiu can see I"m playing around with some bottom bottle and line ideas. I still don't like this one all that much but the only other decent idea is to go forward, around the trigger and along the side of the trigger frame or beech tube. This is a lot cleaner I think but I still don't like it. Anyone have any ideas?

And the engraving and lettering on the grip is fabulous... Speaking of which the hole in the grip was holding a phono jack that was hooked up to a red dot sight on the sight rale. It had fallen apart in the handle and I took it out. Anyone know where I could find a replacement grip?

The barrel with the sizing restrictor on the muzzle is a total of just over 14 inches. I'm hoping to upgrake the barrel to a 12 inch Dye Ultralight I've got coming. The stocker is a touch oversized. I can darn near stand back and hook shot paint down this old barrel....

My ranger is my favorite nelson pump, I have mavericks and hammers and its the most solid out of all of them. The best thing is that takes cocker barrels so you have the greatest selection out there if you feel the need for it. I personally wish it had a anti-double feed so the pump would lock forward but I got around that. I have a rubber band running from the bolts on the pump then around the front of the feedneck and it holds it forward very nicely. Also, put a little blue locktite on the velocity adjuster to keep it from backing out, I had that happen while deep in the field during DDay and that really pissed me off. Also, if you can find a pair of the SP wood grips for a cocker/mag frame they feel great on there but you need to remove the top 1/8 inch so they fit under the rail.

Good luck its a good gun.

Edit: Heres what I did with the bottomline setup.

It takes Nelson springs just like a cocker....so find a cocker spring set and your good to go.

Old cocker spring kits not the new ones , the new ones will be to long and cause to many interferience issues. ( unable to use the full travel of the vel adj, it will also promote the cup seal from unscrewing from the power tube)

Excellent advice. I'm going to look into those springs. B, thanks for the warning but if they are the right wire size and turns diameter than I can cut them down and reform the cut end. Done it before. A touch fussy but it works.

DJ, that line setup looks nice. And shortly after I posted my pics I came across that same ASA to hose end like you have abotu 3/4 the page down at...
http://www.palmer-pursuit.com/catalog/fittings.htm

And the whole bottom line kit at....
https://palmer-pursuit.com/ecom/prod...b1ced5c970ebb4

This probably isn't news to many here but I only found PPS after some painful searching.

And I found angled bottom bottle ends at PMI. GOtta see if they sell parts over the net.

Update on my Ranger. She's all done, setup with a new barrel that doesn't let the paint roll out, chronoed at 275 to 290, has it's bottom line and is patiently awaiting the pump only event on Nov 26 coming up.

I added an older Dye Ultralite one piece barrel that came on another autococker I got recently since that one can benifit from my J&J barrel kit.

You can see how I added some bushings made from some PVC pipe I had. The half shells are held on by an outer wrap of 3 mil self adhesive mylar. Holds 'em good and wears like iron. The second shot shows her all set up and ready to rumble.

ON TO THE NEXT PROJECT! ! ! !

Nice choice of barrel there. You should really take a group photo of your collection as it stands. I'm curious to see these cockers you've accumulated.

Very nice, I think that looks like an old Dye Aluminum not Ultralight, I bought one in 2001 and the back looks like a normal Boomstick but hell I could be wrong.

It looks like a nice setup, I wonder where I have seen a setup like that before...lol. I usually end up with my freak kit on it to help with roll outs and it just seems to shoot better. The slight drop of the 10deg asa feels very nice with a 9oz tank on there. Have fun with it.

You could well be right DN. There's no marks on it to even suggest what company made it. I was going on the info from the guy at the paintball shop that chrono'ed it for me.

It sure has a lot less of a POP than the old straight length of water pipe that was on it before.
