Trracer/Maverick Velocity Consistency Issues

I've got a couple Trracers, and they're great fun, but they have huge variation in velocity. Like 40-60fps jumps. I'm using HPA (CenterFlag - ~850PSI output). I haven't tried CO2, but I imagine that would just be worse. I tried putting a regulator on one, but I couldn't get the pressure up high enough (either shot too low or the valve opened when pumping after spring adjustments). Is there a particular lube/oil I should be using? I've tried a couple, and used different amounts, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

I've had the same problem on my Hornet while running HPA. I think HPA is causing the problem, but no one does CO2 fills, so I can't confirm it. But spring swapping hasn't really made a difference. I'll let someone else say something about it though.

I use CO2 for my gun, it is a bit off, and it does varies. I had an expansion chamber on my gun before and it DID helped. So try a regulator.

Clean, polish and re-lube everything that moves inside the marker, that includes the valve stem. If that doesn't help, try springs.

Well, I tried CO2, and that certainly wasn't any better. My worst jump was something like 155 to 310.

What lube would you suggest? How should I go about polishing the parts?

Agree with DarkNinja, plus try a HP reg or stab. These guns works at about 800.
Mine is getting not more than 10 (20 the bad days) fps jumps, with stock barrel and a random bottle reg (PureEnergy - not better than Centerflag).
My internals are just polished, and I use good paintballs.

What kind of regulator would you suggest? I tried the one off of my FEP The Quest (all I had handy), but it wouldn't go high enough.

Something meant for high pressure, preferably in the 700 psi and up range. Nelsons seem to do best at 700-850.

my trracer is having similar issues. Does anyone know if an old autococker stock reg can go up to 750-800 PSI? also, please elaborate on the parts polishing bit.

thanks,

IIRC, the old stock wgp regs were factory tuned for the 450-600 psi range, however I have seen them on trracers in the past so I can only assume they can be adjusted that high.

Polishing involves the outside bands of the hammer where it comes into contact with the body, polishing the part of the power tube that fits through the bolt, and any other surface that encounters any amount of friction when the hammer releases. Be sure to inspect the inside of the body for anything that might cause friction. The experts that spoke for me probably suspect friction around the hammer causing wild velocity swings, coupled with variations on input pressure. I personally would suspect paint first, starting with a dirty barrel, a poor paint to barrel fit, and or misshapen paint. My best guess is that paint is rolling partially down the barrel before you fire, resulting in a low velocity shot. Try to isolate these problems when you do your troubleshooting.
