Illusion Problem

So I got an Illusion in a trade a while back and I'm about to sell it, only problem is, I went to air it up and it leaks terribly down the barrel. I took out the bolt and everything seemed fine, but it still leaks. I don't know much about Sniper, let alone Illusions, to completely take it down. My question is, what usually causes this and how do I fix it?

It's a valve/cup seal issue, you'll have to tear it down to that part to fix it.

Do I need to replace the part entirely?

I agree with Hobbes, definitely a cupseal or valve issue. On an Illusion it's pretty easy access you get the cupseal out, just remove the pump handle and unscrew the Velocity adjuster.Once the adjuster is unscrew the valve spring and cupseal are easy access, they'll either just fall out or they'll come out when you unscrew the adjuster.Start with that if that doesn't fix it,come back and let us know and we can tell you how to get the valve out.

If the marker is quite a bit older (5 or more years) there's a darn good chance that the Orings that seal the valve in place are hardened and shot. But while you've got the valve out swapping the rings you may as well check the cup seal for wear, deformities and other bad stuff as well. I've had three of the old markers I've bought need new valve O rings now. Not a biggie at all. Except I understand that cockers (and thus snipers) need a special tool to get the valves out.

Can anyone post a pic and measurements of what this special tool looks like? I may as well make one since I'm sure I'll need it along the way.

So i took it apart but couldn't get the valve (maybe cup seal) out, not really sure exactly what is was actually. But I took of the pump, back block and bolt and realized I couldn't do anything else, so I put it back together and aired it up and what do you know, it worked. Is there anyway that it was my tank instead of the gun because I switched tanks and it worked....?

If you were almost out of air then yes it could be the tank.

If you need a good breakdown of these guns let me know and I can see about having the AM cd's I have copied.Carter has them at the moment and may even be able to make them part of MCB TV.
