Id'ed the block for my upcoming sniper...

Ok, so I found out that the block I've been intending for a long time to be turned into a sniper is a 99, and that changes a few things, like the screw for the front block. So now I need some more info. I think I'd heard before that you must use a pre 2k back block so that the bolt lines up with the valve chamber correctly. Is this true? I've still got the original front block and ASA, but not the back block. And the crappy part is that it's all a custom anno, so I would have to try and get somebody to match it for me, which might be hard. So how about some help!

Front block screw shouldn't be a problem, just get a pre-99 pump kit and you're all set in that section. If you're making a sniper, the front block wont really do you much good anyways.

As far as backblock and bolt, as long as they're the same kind it's ok on any body. IE: a pre 2k bolt + pre 2k back block will work, OR a 2k+ bolt and a 2k+ back block. Nothing changed in the bodies, just the bolt length and back block changed. Therefor as long as you don't mix and match eras of backblock and bolt, you can put em on any kind body.

Cool, thanks for the info. So, who would come as a high recommendation to get a backblock match-annoed for this pattern? I've seen lots of Rainman's work, is there anybody else I should consider as well?

Try asking Rainman. I remember him saying it's a lot of work, and sometimes not always worth it for an attempt at match annoing. I don't know much more than that though. But figure if you're gonna get a pump kit, and a reg, and a grip, if you're picky on cosmetics it might be wiser to get them all done one way, or have the body that color and all accents black or something.

Yeah, I was kind of thinking doing all chrome accents, but I think it's look kind of stupid with a chrome backblock. I don't know, maybe it'd be ok, I'll have to get one and take a look.
