New Trigger / Bolt-On Trigger Guard?

I'm looking to upgrade the trigger on my Spyder EM-1 from a single to a "double" with a blade or wave style. If you're not familiar with the marker, the existing trigger frame is cast and the guard is integral and attached to the grip and the tray. What would need to be done is the existing guard be cut off at the two attach points, the frame drilled and tapped for 1-2 mounting screws, and a new guard fabricated and bolted on. The screws would preferably be countersunk into the grip. I don't envision the guard being fully enclosed, it can "float" below the trigger and doesn't need to be reattached to the grip, the 2 screws through the tray should be sufficient to keep it stable. If there isn't space for 2 screws, one screw could be used and the guard could be extended with a lip in the front of the tray to prevent side-side motion. Additionally, using the geometry of the existing single trigger I'd like to get a longer trigger made to accommodate "walking". Parts would be aluminum of whatever alloy you happen to have handy.

I've attached a picture of what the marker looks like now, and a rough picture (MS Paint is AWESOME!) of what I'd be looking to have done.

Before:

After:

Would this be a project you'd be willing to do, and if so do you have a rough estimate of what it would cost? I wouldn't be looking to get the work done for at least a month or two as the marker is currently at PPS getting some pneumatic work done.

Don't ruin one of the few single trigger frames for a spyder... Just find a cheap one from Ebay.

Thats a job i couldn't quote. Shouldn't be that bad to do. I would just need your frame with switch still in it to do it.

I strongly considered keeping it bone stock with only bolt-on upgrades, but unfortunately you can't get a cheap frame for the EM1 because the tray and frame are integral, unlike on Bushy's. It was always intended to be a high ROF electro (mine has the original board with the 19bps cap on modes), it just happened to come out way back in the day before longer walkable triggers became popular. This is the -least- invasive way of getting a walkable trigger on it, the more popular mod is hacking the entire gripframe off of the tray and bolting on an Angel, DM, etc frame. I think in the end, keeping it as stock as possible while bringing it a bit more into modern times is going to increase the value of a $100 gun.

Besides, it's too late for sparing it from the sawmill, it's at Palmer's getting their LP mods done to allow mounting aftermarket primary and secondary regs.

No problem, this is definitely something random. Mostly just checking to make sure it was something you'd be willing to take on. I'll get in touch via PM once I get the marker back to work out specifics. Thanks!

The other option to explore is making a new tray for it and using any double frame you like. This way you not wrecking the stock one.

Hrm...good idea. I'll have to think about that one, guess it depends on how much of a PITA it is to rewire the solenoid. Guess I need to spend some quality time looking at the marker when it comes back!
