Possible to cocker-thread a Sterling?

I was checking out my Proline Sterling... and noticed the hood on the stock threads is actually longer than the threads on a cocker barrel. Would it be possible to chop off about an inch of the top tube, and thread the remainder for cocker barrels? It would probably need an undercocking kit, too... It currently has a 'Mag VA running off one of your extended rails.

I suppose the only question is whether there's enough "meat" between upper and lower tubes for the nice, chunky 'cocker threads, without binding on the pickup and hammer assembly.
