| A god in my own mind | $25 feed $45 round off Ano would depend on if the body is polished or dust finish at the moment. Dust finish polished out will be a little higher

| Active Member | Ok. I think I want milling like this again. What I showed you before. http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/9061/s5000309mu7.jpg Except the top tube will just be all the same size, unlike in the pic where it gets smaller after the threading for the barrel is passed. So, how much would this be? I am assuming it would be cheaper than the last quote you gave me for this milling, because the top tube will all be the same size the whole length. And if I just got the top rounded, it would just be like the top picture except the walls wont be as thin? Sorry if it seems like a lot of questions. I appriciate your patience. Thanks. |

| A god in my own mind | Matt I hate to say this. But i will before someone else does. Your trying my patients.. With that out of the way. The rounding of just the top would have be done manually with a corner rounding end mill. But when you get in to rounding the lower and everything. It matters not how thin or how many steps you make in the body . As that would be cnc'ed and would take time to do. And time cost money. If the top was rounded it would not be as thin walled if done with a corner rounding endmill.

| Mod with mad UPS!!! Join Date: May 2006 | Rainman, Can I ask a 'shop talk' question. Do you pull the press fit - or bore it out - and tap it? BTW - the costs you quoted are really competitive. Matt - you are getting a smoking deal if you knew what he is actually doing - he is charging you peanuts! TF

Pull the press fit out and make a new press fit for it with angel threads. I found perfect stock that fits in. Trick is in press fitting it in with out wreaking the new threads.
