3in one mills?

I was sent here to ask you why they suck..
I'm basically broke, and found the grizzly 3in1 lathe mill combo thing, and Altec said it's terrible, but its what I can afford.. so yeah, just wondering

any help or reccomendations for a mill or lathe somewhere below 1,500bucks woud be lovely

american machinist get all to much in a fuss about where a machine is made. its like MCBers and guns like ions and stuff. MCBers consider themselves above the ion, and why would you waiste your money on that? machinists are like this about mills and lathes.

i say that if is cuts without chatter and the feeds are perpendicular and straight, who the hell cares?

as for grizzly, they used to be very bad, but i herd though the grapvine that there quality is comming up.

Mill OR a lathe, or mill AND a lathe?

If you just want a mill, the Grizzly 6x21 is the way to go...

thats the problem.. thats the sort of budget I'm working with.. at max, unless I wait quite a while longer.. but I'de like to have it this summer, so I have some time to fiddle with it.
and there are alot of things in the paintball scene that really require a lathe, in fact most things really

I have a grizzly wood lathe, and after having it eat a few belts, we contacted grizzly, and the sent us a new pully set and belt, and we haven't had any problems with it since..

I believe most 3-in-1's may be too small to do most paintball related work....Could this be the reason for Altec's response?

I don't know.. this is the one I was thinking about getting.. either this one or the level below it.. but it is pretty large. Definately big enough to do anything paintball related aside from maybe making barrels

Don't some of those grizz mill/lathes lack a power feed on the mill?

I also heard smiths here say that setting up and tearing down to use each machine on the 3-in-1's are a pain.....

To russc

Yeah, but I think that if the lathe has one on a combo, then if your using that as the table it would theoritically have one.. it'd just be the one for the lathe

the combo one I posted does I think

----
and It doesn't really matter to me if they suck to take down.. hopefully I'll only have to put it together once

Sly...I have never used one...so I can only say what I have heard....

I don't care what brand as long as it works....I would also be looking for used instead of new if you have someone who can check out the machines for you to make sure everything is tight and working right...There are some good deals out there and alot of them have tooling or extras....
