1988 Sniper I - sn774 fsbo

more pics and info:
http://www.grendelsgear.com/wgp-sniper-1.htm

no longer includes reg or bottom line.

*********SOLD*************

Will consider trade for right feed Belsales Evolution - black or silver prefered. -
Will also consider Any CCM/Palmer/Belsales UP'ed RF sniper II in cherry condition.
Any blazer in ready to play condition will certainly tempt.

Thumper's notes 3.17.06 : I bought this beauty off an old friend of mine in 2004 - and he had picked it second hand as well and then played it on and off for 8 years or so. I retired it as soon as I got her.

The internals are stock (circa 1988) including the valve, valve stem, bolt, hammer, lug and cocking rod. The ribbed barrel came with it, as did the back block. The barrel is in very good shape considering the age and usage.

She came with a 1/8" air fitting for the vertical ASA which was a nice piece of custom work. The original asa air holes had been filled, and the asa screw hole bored out to fit a standard 1/8" NPV. Grendel picked up an ASA w/o the timing rod hole, and I was able to restore the ASA to its likely condition.

She came w/ a proline 45 hinge when I got her, and now is fitted with an original pot metal Sniper II hinge. The current trigger frame has some slight milling on the bottom, but is functionally fine.

The thompson stock is not original, and I did manufacturer the adapter plate and mate it to another sniper II w/ a pot metal frame. The grip frame cover plates must be notched to help the fit, but it is an easy effort. It seemed a shame to consider altering the main marker for this stock, so I leave this decision to the next owner.

if you don't get what you're asking, would you consider selling the 3.5 oz's seperately?

if so, drop me a PM

price updated..

I dropped the price and included trade comments.. see top post.

REASON FOR LETTING HER GO..

Im not a collector - and its a shame to just have that old girl sit in box. She needs a loving home and Im not about to loan her out to some punk kid to trash.

Operationally: The original springing is pretty much like the early "pre-nelson" springs were. The hammer is huge, and the valve seems much better made than the later brass versions. Once you get inside the body, you can sence the craftsmanship. The tollerences are tight. The machining precise. Im pretty sure these old bodies were drilled and milled - not extruded.

(I have a '93 sniper II and have worked on a few '90s and '91s).

It shoots great, no leaks, stable performance. Its amazing that the original ribbed barrel is in such good shape. I would have guessed otherwise.
