I know that considering how old and rare it is, modifying it could sound like something stupid but at the same time, I was looking at the pictures and I think that swaping the barrel for a 68 one, having a new magazine made and opening a slot for fist strikes wouldn't be so hard and, at the same time, would make it usable. Is it insane?

The only insane part would be starting with the Machofire, since you would already need to do a fair bit of fabrication, you might be better off to start with a cheap, mainstream inline like any Tippmann derivative.
