On many pump up guns, the velocity hits a peak, and all the air can't be released from the valve. Only increasing spring tension brings up the velocity at this point.

| MCB Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Southern Maine | I like the quality of the finishing. Though I remember the Crosman-1377 that I had. I tried a simple experiment where I rigged a quick adapted to the barrel (duct-tape) , that allowed me to attach a generic .68 barrel to the end of the .177 barrel. I think it took around 20 pumps to get a decent FPS from that gun. But it did sorta work. I suppose instead of this beautiful, but pricy custom breech, you could instead just rig a "hinge" at the end of the .177 barrel and then mount a short .68 barrel. To load, just tilt the barrel, exposing the breech, and pop in a ball, close, then fire. $2 in parts.. nick
