Background: see this thread about the difference between a Phantom bolt and the Redux bolt. When I had my Redux apart the the other day, I noticed a bevel at the front of the breech in the snub. Ahead of the breech bevel is a "lip" which keeps the Freak insert in. SO!
If the snub breech bevel were milled slightly to match a standard Phantom bolt, unmodified Phantom bolts would work; there'd be no need to turn down the bevel on a Phantom bolt to match the Redux. Mongo: is there a reason the bevel in the Redux breech is the angle it is, head-MF-duck-in-charge? ![]() Breech, no Freak insert: ![]() Breech, Freak insert with a small gap: ![]() Breech, Freak insert fully inserted to the lip: ![]() The bevel is just rearward of the "lip" that holds the Freak insert in. Not easy to identify in the photo but if you own a Redux, you'll see it. Last edited by CJOttawa; 03-08-2010 at 08:07 PM. |

I would need to see pics, but it sounds kinda similar to how Carter Barrels are, except the bevel is at the barrel back, rather than in the breech.
