There has to be *something* in the gun that lets it release air more gently than other markers.

My Redux completely destroys Marblizer or X-Ball Gold/Hellfire, both brittle paint.

I'm starting to think this has less to do with the short barrel (more gas needed) and more to do with TPC/bolt/power-tube/valve.

I am about to place an order from CCI. I'll add a few TPC's to do some experimenting with.

After shooting both my Redux and Gargoyle (CCI guts) I have come to the conclusion you "may" be destroying paint because of too tight of a bore to paint combo an attempt to get the best fit possible. I haven't noticed on your photos but Cj are you using SS freak inserts? I never break paint when I use SS waxed inserts.

Hey DSA!

The short answer: liquid CO2 siphoned out of the 12-gram was reaching the ball and shattering it.

I tested Marblizer and X-Ball Gold with really loose inserts, eliminating underbore as the cause of the breaks.

The solution was a valve insert that redirected gas flow and prevented liquid from being siphoned out of the 12-gram.

As for efficiency, the most helpful tactics for me were:
I can and DO shoot Marbilizer and X-Ball Gold from my Redux, without barrel breaks, using the valve insert.

My Gargoyle would cause barrel breaks with most competition paint. Not Ramp, wich is what I buy if not restricted to FPO.
I think it's the paint.

I'm actually not breaking paint anymore with the Redux, Splattttttt. X-Ball Gold and Marbilizer shoot fine.

I have more experience with the Marbs' in the Redux than the X-Ball Gold.

PMI 3 is shooting Gold from his Duckslide without problems but the valve configuration isn't "in-grip 12-gram" so I wouldn't expect liquid in the system.

Check out the new thread on the valve insert:
Redux Valve insert - success

Let's keep this one for efficiency testing.

I doubt my garg will ever break paint it's smooth as silk just like my Dux although it a totally different feel. The garg is the Pump that the others were not it's very SI old school and the Dux is very VERY cool and bad assed!
