Shot this weekend. Testing Conditions

Conclusions The brass valve insert keeps liquid CO2 from traveling directly from the 12-gram to the powertube inlet vents. The reduction in velocity was likely the result of reduced flow rate around the valve insert. The solution will be to build another insert with larger channels to allow unchoked gas flow inside the valve. In the meantime, screwing the TPC in farther raises dwell enough to get velocity up. DD68 Redux owners should consider this mandatory. With no liquid dump on the first few shots, the risk of shattering paint is reduced and allows the use of brittle, tournament-grade paint like Marblizer, X-Ball Gold or Silver. | Tempus fugit. Join Date: Dec 2006 Location: Canada's National Capital | This weekend, I was primarily focused on making the gun more gentle on brittle paint. Not such a big deal with my M.CB crew but definitely walk-ons "not noticing" when hit or reporting bounces. Marblizer or X-Ball Gold left a square-foot of fluorescent goo on impact and that's a big plus playing stock class against people shooting full-auto. Quote:

I'll get serious about efficiency testing once I have a "version 2.0" insert with larger channels. Last edited by CJOttawa; 06-21-2010 at 02:58 PM. | ||

so it is choking it a tiny bit, but nothing the tpc can't handle, and larger holes will fix that? are you going to just cut bigger holes or were you going to make a second one that way you can swap between and compare? so far, pro's are softer on paint and no cloud. con, need to adjust veloctiy. did I miss anything?

The biggest pro I've found from blocking the path from cartridge to cupseal is that your shot curve flattens out. I'm speaking anecdotally of course, but from my experience you get a lower initial velocity (since there is no liquid being shot out) but it holds that velocity better.
