Drilling out Powertubes

After the snapped powertube incident at the field last weekend, I was left using a tube that didn't have quite the flow rate of the previous tube.

Chain of events:
  1. log on to M.CB
  2. click through pump marker thread
  3. see "Nelson Powertube and Spring dimensions" thread
  4. see ID of #6 tube
  5. look over at drill kit
  6. figure out that a 3/16 bit will bore out a tube perfectly
  7. ...
  8. PROFIT!

The 3/16" bit does indeed cut the #4 Lapco powertube quite nicely.

Next, I need to make sure there are no burrs to spawn cracks, specifically in the vent area.

Pics to follow shortly!

CJ,does a number 6 tube need to be cut down to fit into the redux or are they good to go out of the box?

Maybe a stupid question, but hand drill, drill press or milling machine?

Hand. Took the risk, basically self-aligning since there's already a hole drilled in the tube.

I've broken one since 2008. Back when I was auto trigger happy it was one a month.
