| Space Monkey 615 !!! | WK2's DuckSlide mod for a Trracer BBA *Disclaimer #1* Do this at your own risk,,, I take no responsibility for your mistakes in doing the modification to your DuckSlide... *Disclaimer #2* I placed this here because it was made by mOngo and therefore in the Redux Family I have always wanted some kind of Duck be it Carter or Redux... I finally got my hands on a DuckSlide after 2 years of searching... I then began it's mutated process into something more than a "Glorified Phantom"... I call her the "Ugly Duckling" (because she contains so many parts other than CCI it's not even funny) I have been posting pics all over the place of the process I have been going through and thought that I was done until splattttt said it would be alot better if I added a Trracer BBA... So I knew the man to contact in order to get my hands on one,,, Bacci ... Well the part came in and I could not wait to install it and take pics to show off... I ran into a little problem after assembly... It would not pump ... I looked it over slowly pumping and saw where it was hitting and I knew I had to remove some material... What is needed Dremel Dremel Tungsten Carbide Cutter Bit Dremel Buffing Wheel Bit Small Hand File Digital Calipers Allen Wrenches Masking Tape Mothers Metal Polish Safety Glasses I started with this ![]() ![]() Things needed laid out (yes the finished DuckSlide is in this pic,,, I took it after the fact) ![]() Once I took the Trracer BBA out I could now move the Slide back and held it in place and took a measurement of rearward travel... 1 inch I then dis-assembled the rest of the marker and measured back 1 inch from the back again and taped it off ![]() After taping it off I measured the inside track of the Slide ![]() I then measured the diameter of the Bucket Changer where the Slide was hitting ![]() Measurement of depth of material that needed to be removed from the outside of track to the inside ![]() I now knew how much material I needed to remove and now to begin the process With everything taped off to include the outside of the Slide I began by using the Dremel with Tungsten Carbide Cutting Bit and put it on low speed ( So I could remove a little bit of material at a time ) ![]() After each pass on each side I would use the small hand file to take out any high spot to level everything out and also checked how much material I had taken out with the Digital Calipers ![]() After desired depth was met I changed out bits on the Dremel to the Buffing Bit and used Mothers Metal Polish to clean everything up ![]() ![]() ![]() I took my final measurement after the buffing process ![]() After I was satisfied I re-assembled everything and checked it out and it worked beautifully !!! and ended with this,,, the "Ugly Duckling" (while I had it apart I also countersunk the frame screws in the RTR Trigger Assembly Group to get rid of the CCI Field Strip Screws)![]() After I did this mod last week I PM'd mOngo,,, splattttt, and Bacci ... splattttt said I needed to post the process to share with others in case they wanted to do this modification as well... Here's what mOngo had to say Quote:

That looks awesome!! I think I may have to do this to mine as well....and by "I" I mean a better qualified and equipped machine shop run by one of our resident smithies.... Any chance of getting some better pics of the finished project?

Fantastic Dave. It looks so much better this way then before, and probably a shot or two on tap now. I hadn't noticed before, but I saw that you're sponsored by Hammer Head. Thinking of maybe finding a barrel that would go well sometime down the road?

The current barrel is a 8 inch Freaked CCI and I think it sticks closer to the "Duck" look... I might take it to the Machine Shop on Post and end mill it for some Millet Sights on top of the Feed Tube (both front and rear of the Feed Tube) ... I can't wait for the 30* offset DuckSlide so I can really finish off the look ...WK2

Once again, EXACTLY the setup I'm waiting for! Looks wonderful. I too am excited to see the 30* slides, because I found it difficult to aim the regular duckslide. Nice work and balls of steel to take a dremel to a duckslide and have it come out clean!! |

| Russel's sweeten it up... Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Bean Town, U.S.A. | I had a Duckslide at one point that didn't like the RTR lowers, and needed widening (not much). There was no way in hell I would trust my self with the Dremmel though. Used sand paper LOL. Took me a few hours.
