What about the Lapco power tubes? Is #6 better for Lapco cup seal and #6P mates better with phantom cup seal?

I know the difference between the #6, and the #6P was explained somewhere, but I can't find it at the moment. My plan was to get two or three #6's and the cupseals to go with them. Juuuust in case, ya know? A milled hammer is also top on my list.

As far as spring kits go, I'm watching two kinds on ebay. I'm sure you've all seen them, so I won't bother with links unless someone asks. But I wanted to ask for opinions on which kit is better.

The one kit has eight different springs. Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow main and valves. The other kit; the Maddman set, has six. No yellows. The set with the extra two is more money because it comes with a Cocker IVG, but I could always resell that. So, what do you guys think the better kit is? Right now I have a hodgepodge of springs, and it's tough to tell what some are. I just want a dedicated kit, because most of the colors are worn off on mine.

Right now, I have a Red valve spring, and a Yellow main spring in there. It seems to top out at about 240ish, according to my little yellow chronograph. I have yet to do a shot count test. I also got fantastic consistency with a green valve, and a standard phantom main. It stayed around 278, but it dropped fast. By shot 20, it was down to 240. By shot 24, it was 190. Need MOAR!

My main goal with this thing, is to get 30-35 shots off, at about 270-280. I've got myself trained to reload a twelve gram after three tubes of paint, so anything beyond that is inconsequential to me. It's just that balance between consistency and efficiency that's eluding me at the moment.

But I'm thinking the right springing combined with a milled hammer, and good bore matching should get me to where I need to be. Maybe an ASP modded TPC. I don't feel the need to go too crazy modding it, but I will get it where it needs to be. And I also need to find someone who can mill my extra valve body to fit. Daddy wants a BBA valve!

I got both spring kits and I like the Maddman kit better. You need to cut the valve spring though. The other kit uses nelson valve spring but the quality of those springs looked iffy.

That was my thought as well. I know the Maddman ones have been around for a while. Just out of curiosity, how much do you trim off of the valve springs? In my eyes, it seems like the Redux would like a heavy valve spring, but I could be wrong. I know CJ uses the blue, which I think is a light spring.

The only difference between a Lapco #6 & 6P are the shoulders... The 6P has a stronger shoulder and that's the words directly from Sergay at LAPCO... One of my posts somewhere here I explain it a little better...

FYI, yellow is a light spring. Blue is medium. Red is stiff.
Green is somewhere between yellow and blue.

Yellow was too light to hold the valve closed when pressure dropped, resulting in valve squeak.

SUCCESS!!! A few minutes of patience coupled with a fine Samuel Adams Summer Ale, and I have achieved my goal and then some. Just pulled 40 shots off, 38 of them at perfectly usable speeds.

Dropped the yellow main, and put a Phantom Blue main in. Red valve spring stayed put. On a Fresh twelve gram, the first shot opened at 290. A turn and a half on the TPC dropped it to about 270, and it shot pretty consistent. Shots 1-30 stayed between 268-275. Our field limit is 280 and it's pretty strictly enforced, so that's perfect for me. 31-37 started dropping down into the low 260s/high 250s. 38 went down to 241, 39 hit 204, and 40 hit 188. All in all...I am pleased. I will still be getting the milled hammer, spring kit, and extra power tubes, but I am pleased to know that I accomplished what I set out to.

Edit: This was accomplished with RPS Marballizers underbored with .679 aluminum Freak insert and the Redux Extended barrel.

I have a very hard valve spring and a strong main to counteract the strength of the valve spring. I could not get my dux to make field speeds with a milled hammer, could be that I did not tinker with it enough. Just be sure to get some rouge and a few cotton wheels for the Dremel and polish everything that moves.

Edit: missed your post, good work dm6.

Thank you, Lechooch! I'm extremely happy, it's little things like this that make my day.

Weasel, I'm thinking that with a milled hammer, I may have to go a step lighter with the valve spring. I'll have to test that as soon as I get my hands on one. Stanchy said he should have a batch done today. I'm thinking I'll grab one tri-fluted, and one dual fluted for tinkering's sake. Also considering a set of Lapco internals, if I can find some.

I have another main spring here that I can't figure out. It's brown. Heavier than the Yellow, lighter than the red and blue. I don't have a green to compare to, but it's about one coil longer than my phantom springs. I have no clue where it came from, and I'm tempted to try it just to see what happens. Maybe when the new boxgun gets here later, depending on what kind of mileage it gets. That thing has a shorter barrel than the Redux

The last big step will be the BBA valve. If any of you checked out CJ's mod for that, it's the first style he tried. With any luck, I may be able to pull more shots out from that, but that's a project for another day.
