CCI bucket changer style gas in grip threading?

I had a chance to use a CCI 12-gram bucket changer the other weekend.

What a great design! Half a turn and the 12-gram is pierced and ready to go. I read on the forum they're "3-lead, 14tpi oddball/ACME."

Assuming the Redux grip-frame weren't tapped already, could a 12-gram plug be created that had similar threading to the CCI bucket changer? (it's got multiple start points on the thread)

EDIT - If there's room in the gripframe for it, the easiest thing to do would be to mill out the existing threads and install the "bucket" part of the changer to act as an insert. A new plug would have to be cut (or the other half of the bucket changer used as the plug).

Out of curiosity, about how many turns does it take on a Redux?

"A lot." No gun in front of me but it's probably 2-3+ full turns.

Ty has had a hell of a time trying to replicate the threads for a brass bucket.

Going the route of dukie's drv may be the easiest, 1/8 npt to asa with cci bucket changer

One thing I'd love to see is a dropout slot in the rear of the grip for guns like the redux, which might allow for a stock with a hole/slot for the plug to go through

that was a problem for me. going from a vsc phantom to redux felt like it would take a minute just to unscrew the plug.

Just trim off some of the threads on the Redux knob and that should help alot....If you trim it down closer to what the CIP Boxgun has you'll notice it takes about 2 turns total

you could if you REALLLLY wanted to.

hack the bottom 2/3 off the bucket, bore out the redux frame, press the bucket in. Use the top/pierce assembly as the knob. Some sort of handle might help.

I think you would have just about zero luck trying multi start threads with a tap. It could be thread milled though. The know woulb be the *easy* part.

Rat attack changers are the same way, 4 lead though I think.

This is an excellent idea. I've noticed some of the Boxguns seem to come with a plug that has fewer threads.

That's a way better idea than trying to tap the thing; use off the shelf parts.

The bucket then becomes a sort of "insert" like the "Time-Sert" system.

More like a nutsert. there isn't enough material to thread the outside ( let alone the inside of the frame). Press fit or tig it in place.
