That's what I'm thinking. He's local to me, and I trust his work. I'll have to speak to him about it when I head over.

let me know how it goes, I'm in the same boat of not being setup to trust myself to do it right. But the stainless insert would be more of an upgrade than just a fix in my mind.

You could do what I did when I built my clone....Mine uses a 10/32 thumbscrew that is loctited in place so that it's at just the right spot to latch tight but,not too tight....then drill a small divot into the latch itself on the underside and drill another hole that lines up with that divot in the latch, tap the hole for a nylon set screw like the ones Phantoms use for the bolt, and put a small ball bearing on top of the nylon screw so that when the latch is in the closed position it actually locks in place. It'll make taking it apart a little harder and you have to make sure not to lose the bearing, but, helps prevent the screw hole from stripping out

that's a reasonable ideal if the threads hadn't already come out with the bolt the last time i removed it

Just out of curiosity, what did he do to fix it? My duck is currently with Mike at CCI, and we're trying to figure out a safe way to do it. He doesn't think the inserts will work to well for me.

Nice! Mike is going to do the same thing for my Duck, should be done this week. He's fixing my lower grip, too. I'm eager to see the picture, so I have an idea what to expect.
