Bolt connector latch screw came out

And took the pump body threads with it. any ideals other than retapping for the next size up screw?? A shallow as it is could it be helicoiled?? or don't bother and just go up a size on the screw.

I didn't think I was overtightening and it may be just the constant removal to do spring swaps for tuning fatigued the shallow threads. would a longer screw with a rubber washer work better for retaining than constant removal of the screw?

I think this is similar to the problem DM6Rocker was having with his Duck.

Sounds like it. Currently still unfixed, waiting for mongo to free up so he can have a look. I'd rather helicoil it if I could, but I don't know if it's possible either. Either Helicoil, or the stainless inserts that Mike from CCI uses for his phantoms. You'll never have to worry about it again if one of those will work.

Sorry to hear it happened to someone else, it's such an important part.

yeah went to change the insert at the beginning of the day for a scenario and boom

a nutsert does sound like a good ideal.

stainless nutsert is a great ideal as I have seen helicoils fail badly.

These are the ones I was thinking about.

I just don't know if it's possible to fit them into that particular area of the slide. It is rather thin, on both Ducks and Reduxs. The 8-32 one is pretty small though, so it could work.

It was devastating when it happened to my Duck, the poor thing is a really expensive paper weight until I can get it fixed up.

Nutsert or similar is the way to go. IMO, helicoil doesn't make sense unless there's a lot of depth for it to anchor to.

FYI, I never "tighten" the screw; it's just tight enough to keep the latch from moving and rarely to never gets adjusted.

That's why I made the little thumbscrew for my Dux. Finger tight is more than enough, I don't want to have it happen twice.

I will be looking into getting a nutsert done, I figure if its red locktighted in should be good to go.

I would have to state if the Redux had an Achilles Heel it's Mr. Loo's bolt latch design. The slide meat is a bit thin where the screw goes and may become wobbly if allowed to loosen up. I have always taken extreme care when adjusting mine, cept in game situations then the kid gloves come off.

Did a little checking, and it seems that the 8-32 stainless insert I linked would fit PERFECT, at least on my duck. They're approximately 2.7mm thick, and the spot on the slide is 2.9mm.

I'd imagine it would be almost the same deal on a Redux. I really think this may be the best bet to fix things up. I'll take stainless over aluminum any day of the week.

I just need to find someone who could drill and tap the required 1/4-36 hole, because I absolutely do not trust myself to do it on a $2000 pump.
