Manning, can you make it a little easier on us and in the future number each shot as you list them?

Like this:

1) 280
2) 279
3) 281
Etc, etc....

That way I don't have to count shots?

I'm always interested to see results like these, but I think it might be a little more scientifically relevant if you chrono each different setup using the TPC to start as close to 280 as possible before taking a shot count. That way you're actually determining if it's the springs themselves and their effect on the valve actuation that's more efficient, rather than the velocity setting. In other words, it's not surprising that if you start at 260 you're going to get more shots than if you start at 280...

PR: Yeah I'll add numbers. When this is done I'll put it all into some form of a consolidated display, but I'm not sure what that will look like yet.

As far as the TPC, I'm first looking for the differences in velocity achieved by the springs using the same TPC position. My aim is to see if I can say, x spring adds 20 FPS or something like that. Maybe its an uneccessary endeavor but I'm curious. I'm primarily interested at this point in the consistency of the spring combos over the amount of shots and I'm watching the standard deviation to determine that. I need to increase my sample size for sure, but one pass through the spring combinations should give me a baseline to start from. After that, I'll crank up the FPS and start getting true shot counts at field velocity. My goal is 30+ shots at playing speeds.

Mailman: Awesome and welcome to the club! I've traded emails with Steve but only spoken on the phone to Rick. It's very interesting to chat about the development of the guns.

Here is the excel for the Green/Yellow combo:

Green/Yellow:
Shots = 50
Total Average FPS = 228.1
Total FPS Range = 157

Average FPS of 30 shots = 246.9
Standard deviation of 30 shots = 9.2
FPS range of 30 shots = 33

This was by far the best I've shot so far. I think I can get 30+ at field velocity with this combo.

Green/yellow looks like a winner so far! Although calling that 50 shots is a little generous, more like 38 usable shots but that's still impressive. Dammit anyone want to buy me a redux? Lol

Agreed. It was 50 shots, as in I pulled the trigger 50 times and 50 balls went out of the barrel. I'm not claiming 50 shots a field velocities. I do think I could reach 30+ at 270 like llaw999 indicated. I'm running yellow/yellow and red/yellow today.

Stay tuned...

I'm really interested to see your red/yellow combo #s so I can compare them to my typical #s, since that's all I've ever used in R015. I bet though w/ the Woosh tip I could probably change that up a little... blue main / yellow valve perhaps ... but then again why fix it if it aint broke right?! LOL... I see a noticeable (10-15fps) increase w/ the use of the Woosh tip due to the extended barrel (and therefore slightly better efficiency at field velocity), and have only experienced velocity issues in 35deg or below weather using 12ie's.

35) 168
36) 155
37) 125
38) 117
39) 104

Kind of erratic numbers here. I really noticed the difference between the yellow and red main in the kick and sound of the shots. The red main sounded like a cannon after the quiet yellow.

Excel incoming!

Here is the chart for the two I did today:

Notes:

Yellow/Yellow:
Shots = 51
Total Average FPS = 225.5
Total FPS Range = 147.0

Average FPS of 30 shots = 242.5
Standard deviation of 30 shots = 8.0
FPS range of 30 shots = 34.0

Red/Yellow:
Shots = 39
Total Average FPS = 236.3
Total FPS Range = 185.0

Average FPS of 30 shots = 257.4
Standard deviation of 30 shots = 14.9
FPS range of 30 shots = 56.0

The Yellow/yellow combo looks promising though I wonder if I can get it up to 270 or not. In my observations doing this for four days now, the sound the gun makes with the combos that produce a longer dwell is a lot louder than the other weaker combos I've tried. I think we all know that more dwell equals more gas used and gas used after the ball is gone is waste. I think the red yellow allowed for some hammer bounce which contributed to my erratic numbers. I'm not sure about that, but my duck didn't seem to like it at this TPC setting anyway.

I plan on hitting the field tomorrow and will throw in the green/yellow combo for the day's play. In my testing rotation next, I want to see how the yellow/red combo does. Ironchef used this one in his Duck with great numbers.
