They are short barrels because during rapid fire, the barrels would actually frost. Also since the bore on all the Vipers is really tight (.681) that resulted in balls breaks especially when paired with a longer barrel. Remember that balls were bigger back then...

Cutting the barrel down helped reduce balls breaks according to rtp. I think they originally started off as 13" barrels, of which repomangene has one?

I've got a "work in progress pic" but can't show it...

How's it shoot? I used a Viper today with a spring return pump handle, man these guns love to be shot! I think Vipers have to be fed eliminations at least once a month or they get mad, I couldn't put it down the whole day.

The lower tube is from a sheridan F-series Pellet gun, the kind with external threading on the tube. The threaded portion was taken off, and a Palmers fasst changer sleeve was soldered in. Rick installed a collar over the joint between the sleeve and the brass tube to make the joint stronger, there's no way the sleeve will ever come off by accident.

Would Rick do a performance upgrade to a gun if it was sent in?

I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to ask, what did you have in mind?

Well, whenever the NX55L gets here, I was going to give it a once over and see what could be improved on/ smoothed out.

That's a good idea, turning an NX55L into an intimidator :-P

Well in my case a nasty intimidator :-P
