| Village Idiot | Now I'm the confused one. I thought thats what the pin in the side was for of do you need to loosen the nut and pull the pin?

It looks to me to a be a locating fixture to help align the two holes for the pull pin. Otherwise you have to push the stock back and forth until they align. Push the stock all the way up and then pull back so the wingnut is resting against the front of the mount. Insert pull pin and it is done. Clever but I'd rather have a nylock nut so once set it doesn't move.

On the NW's the wingnut basically tightens the play in the pin. You obviously can't have a 13 inch stock be held without rattle using a simple pin but when you use the wingnuts to put pressure, it tightens it nicely.
