Gargoyle 3D Model (.sldprt)

Once again, I'm posting this so that those that design and develop parts for paintball guns can effectively have this gun in their hands. I'm still looking into a free program that allows users to view and manipulate .sldprt files, but nothing has come up yet. It's sometimes very easy to get solidworks, though; as a college student, it's on every campus computer and available to students for free. I know that a lot of college libraries are public, and the computers there may have solidworks running.

For the time being, all I have is the attached IGES files. I'm working on finding someone willing to host the 28MB of .sldprt files.

Enjoy!

Attached Files
File Type: zip Gargoyle IGES.zip (6.73 MB, 331 views)

Looks good Siress. I need to get the new SW. Even 2009-2010 won't open the files. E-drawings has a 15-day trial which is where this screen shot is from.

Huh. I'm running 2010 S3.1 on the machine that modeled all of these, so I'm not sure why they won't open for you.

The student edition of SW for 2009-2010 is actually 2009 SP3.0. Sorry about the confusion. I know I could open your phantom part files but I can't with these so I assume you were using SW2009. Just means I have to ask around work for the new edition.

Just had a minor fiasco in-house with the same reverse compatibility issue. It's really very annoying, and unnecessary.

Yes they are screwing us all every year with their subscriptions & forced compatability upgrades. If you bug them enough they will give you older versions with your new versions though

How about saving it in another format?

Stereo Lithography (.stl)
STEP (.stp)
IGES
DWG/DXF

Most programs will read those formats.

Has anyone besides me checked out HeeksCAD/HeeksCNC It is a Python based free CAD/CAM system. I do NOT care for the CAD portion, but the CAM/CNC portion will produce usable, but not optimised gcode.

HeeksCAD and HeeksCNC

Any interest in re-uploading these?

I can save them all as IGES files with ease now, so that can happen too.
