I'm trying to solve this problem myself. I want to be able to carry the Garg, Joyride pack, tubes, twelvies, small toolkit (very small), a set of freak inserts, a mask, and a change of clothes. Preferably in a backpack or messenger style bag. Hardside cases are out of the question.

At least you didn't include that the padding for it is an average bathroom towel :\

Ok, part 2 of the question. What do you all use for ball hauling? Pun intended.. Obviously my Redz 5 tube pack isn't going to serve me well in this capacity.

Joyride pack. It's like a standard pack, but capless. It's completely out of the way and perfect for my play style, which includes crawling around under fire, fitting in tight spaces, and lots of snapshot battles. Holds 15 tubes and four twelvies.

Not a Garg owner, but Meijer has a $14 "Accessory case" in the sporting goods section. It comes with two layers of foam. If you unscrew the barrel it looks like it's got enough room for a gun, full set of freak inserts, small parts kit, and a couple of barrels if you cut the foam right.

I second that... you can get them for cheap used, and they are perfect for rec-play (a little small for scenarios though)

I guess that depends on how much you shoot... I went for a straight six hours in my last scenario and only reloaded my pack once. I was halfway through my tubes, so I probably could have lasted without repacking it. I used my Thumper all day, though, so I had to carry extra twelvies. That's not a problem with a Garg since it's much more efficient.

I used my Joyride at D-Day year before last and was fine as well. You just have to pick and choose your shots.

You know, I suppose you are correct... I never have ran out of paint between "off-the-field-breaks" carrying just 20x tubes in my home-made set up... guess I've just always prefered to have more on me if i need it ... not to mention, there's nothing preventing you from throwing a 50rnd or 100rnd pod in a single pouch of some sort in case you do want to reload your 10rnd tubes on the field!
