Well that O ring on your bolt is pretty low profile and didn't get hung up in a .675 insert. Also check the main spring if it is too long it may be binding up. Just a thought.

Indeed. If you loosen the thumbscrews and that fixes, the sear's hanging down too far and the easiest (and cheapest if you screw up) way to fix it is to just slightly reshape the sear.

I'll try loosening the thumbscrews tonight, and see how that works. Unfortunately I don't have another main spring to compare it to. I need to order a few spring kits for sure! Do the maddmann cocker kits work ok?

Don't know about gargs (never used mine, sadly), but many Carters will do this if the tip of the bolt is not snug in the barrel. When using a properly tapered Carter barrel or inserts, too small a bolt o-ring (a loose fit in barrel) or too large an o-ring (too wide to fit into barrel) is the culprit. The solution is using one that is 'just right,' and avoiding the use of non-tapered barrels/inserts.

LOL! Solve one issue, cause another. Go figure! Just goes to show another one of my theories. Any finely tuned highly precision device is just on the edge of breaking. Fortunately I have a VERY nice carter barrel on the way someday, and I hope that it will assist with this. I'm hoping that I don't have to do any surgery to this marker.

another option would be to try standard stock internals and see how that affects the mix before you carve it up =P

Gargoyle's use standard phantom internals as presented by RTR so its easy to get replacement guts from CCI.

I have done a few mods and tested a few more - in all cases I got extra parts to do the change so I could return to the "as sent by RTR" form once I was done playing around. cost me a bit more cheddar to do that way but in all honesty when I received #33 she was purring like a kitten, as it stands the one thing I am "messing" with is different barrel/paint match options (one modded the adapter for inserts, I am debating trying the other adapter/barrel mod for freak still not sure yet on that)

=)

That's one reason it didn't bother me at all to modify the sear. I can always get another hammer, that's easy.

I had her broken down all the way today. It is the sear, no doubt about it. I have an order in now for a new Phantom hammer and bolt, and I think that will take care of it.
