Grip Frame: Flat or not?

I used a SC Phantom last weekend and am hooked. I have a pump but want a SC one. I saw a RTR offers flat bottom frames and other. What are the advantages/disadvantages of flat bottom other than looks?

Also, and more importantly, are these frames compatible with a Phantom?

Thanks,
Jim

Yes they are compatible.

The flat bottom is good if you want to mount an asa or a stock that already has an angle on it like a Carter stock. With the asa it will allow the tank to be horizontal and not at an upward angle.

Thank you. Now I just need to decide what color. LOL. Gloss Black would be the easiest and cheapest. But I like green/black acid and silver/black acid like on CCI's site. I like the red/black acid, too.

For those you have to get a raw one and send it to Mike at CCI if you are getting the gun from him so it can be match annoed. RTR doesn't match anodize.

CCI also offers the same grip frame options now with a flat and angled bottom.

If I can hijack my thread some more (LOL  ) Which bucket changer would be better? The phantom is knurled but the RTR has grooves. Don't worry...I've got a Boomering,Joyride, and Sight Ghost Ring on the list, too.

They both are the same just different milling. Depends on the look you want. The RTR will give more grip due to the milling.

The rtr one seems to have more trouble sealing however. They sometimes require shimming or an extra oring tom seal. If this is your first sc phantom, I recommend picking up a basic set from cci and getting a feel for the parts before you start immediately upgrading...Enjoy sc:)

This is my first SC Phantom. Blue Dragon is my XO. We've talked a bunch about Phantoms. I'm an AKA and Cockeraholic. I'd love a Gargoyle but I'm not worthy and they are rare.

Yeah, I let him shoot my marble undercocking VSC Phantom when we were out a week or so ago. He's already enlisted my help tuning his new gun to perfection when he gets it, and I've been offering advice on what parts to get (his idea, not mine!). He'll be fine :)
