Jul 17-18 '10, Firefly: Battle of Du-Khang in LaPorte, IN

The year is 2510. The place is the Du-Khang peninsula on a border planet called Beaumonde. Along with Beaumonde’s own militia there is a strong Browncoat presence consisting of the 57th & 22nd Overlanders, as well as the 101st Air Assault Squadron.

The Alliance sees this moon as just another “pocket of resistance” that needs to be weeded out, and is sending a large force to deal with them.

The Browncoats are dug in and waiting and, although this is a fight more about principle than position or resources, they are ready to fight the Alliance and defend Du-Khang.

On this peninsula known as Du-Khang is a large forest where the 57th Overlanders are stationed. The commanding officer, Lieutenant Jacob Meyers, has a bad case of shell shock, and Mal Reynolds has taken over command.

Will the Browncoats be able to defend Du-Khang, and Beaumonde, against the Alliance advance, or will Beaumonde be the last planet of the border planets to fall to the Alliance?

Come be part of the Battle of Du-Khang at Sherwood Forest Adventure Games in LaPorte, Indiana.

Link to event details and registration info

Sherwood Forest is one of Indiana's oldest and most famous paintball fields. Sherwood Forest has over 80 acres to play on and boasts the largest castle in the Midwest. If you are a first time player or an experienced veteran you will find Sherwood's fields the best around.

The staging area features a huge, rustic pavilion, a rec center, and bathrooms with flushing toilets and hot showers!

There are no pallets, plywood, or other scraps on the field. The rolling hills are covered with lots of large hardwood trees, and bunkers are everywhere. Some are large sections of tree trunks used like hyperball tubes. The rest of the field improvements have been constructed of huge railroad ties. Enormous, two-story octagon towers, a cathedral, two small castles for each side's HQ, and many smaller buildings, houses, and bunkers are scattered throughout the field. Illuminated at night by dozens of tiki torches placed on major objectives and trails, the entire playing area takes on a spooky, medieval feel you will find nowhere else!

Sherwood is an amazing field. I wish I could make this, but I'll be conducting military training in Washington State during this.

We're very excited about this event!

We have three first-time commanders. Two will be co commanding the Alliance.

Commanding the Alliance forces from the SE (right hand) HQ will be Jono "Delta7" Everson and Stanley "Semperfidelis" Dziaba. Both are students at Loyola University and have played paintball for a number of years. They are chomping at the bit and eager to have this chance.

Commanding the Browncoats, and starting from the NW (left hand) base will be Terry "Junky" Cauffman of "The Unforgiven." He's a relatively new player with a new team, but is ready to take a shot at commanding.

Part of what is making this possible is the volunteer assistance of some of our previous commanders, who want to see more players learn to command, and are willing to act as "advisors" for these new commanders. The new commanders will not, by any means, be figureheads. Have no doubt that they will be commanding their troops. The advisors will simply offer advice and the benefit of their experience and knowledge.

Acting as advisor at Junky will be William "Lapdance" Helmes and Darin "Razor" Gallagher. They are both from Texas, and commanded against each other at my April 2009 event in Texas.

Acting as advisor to Semperfidelis and Delta7 will be none other than Michael "Madman" Mayner, a veteran commander from our Sherwood events.

We would like to thank these new commanders for stepping up and volunteering, and to our "advisors" for helping some new players test the waters of commanding.

Commanders will swap bases on Sunday, allowing everyone to experience play from each side of the field.

GAME ON!!!
