Viper Scenarios return to Houston in 2010!

Viper Scenarios return to Houston!

In July of 1996 Viper Paintball brought Texas its first taste of scenario paintball, bringing west the great style of play that paintballers had been enjoying on the east coast since it was introduced by Viper’s old team, Marion’s Raiders, in Ocala Florida in the late eighties.

While it took a while to introduce players to it, most were thrilled their first time out and came back...with friends!

Viper’s annual “Texas Revolution” event rapidly became one of the “must attend” paintball events in the nation. Players from all over the country, as well as Australia, Germany, Norway, England, China, South Africa, and other countries showed up ever year for “T-Rev.” By April of 2000 the now-legendary “StarCraft” event drew 1000 players and still holds the record for the largest scenario paintball event in Texas paintball history. Other events like Medieval, The Quest for the Grail, and others all have left hundreds of paintballs from all over the country with many great scenario paintball memories.

This was also due, in no small part, to the great venue these events were held at; Paintball USA on Grant Road in Cypress, Texas. The field seemed to have everything; great terrain, awesome woods, an intense speedball-style area, a creek, bridges, roads. Players absolutely loved the field, and the owners loved them right back.

Anywhere scenario paintball is played in Texas you will often hear stories about one Viper event or another at that awesome venue.

Now, almost a decade after the record-setting “StarCraft” event Darrell McNeill, one of the original owners of Paintball USA, has reopened the venue as Texas Rangers Paintball (TxR) and contacted us to come back out and give everyone a chance to go back in time.

That’s right! Viper Scenarios returns not only to Houston, but to the same venue as well! We are very excited to be bringing Viper events back to Houston, and happy to be working with Darrell at the same field where we provided so many great events for so many players. We’ve missed Houston, and the field, and can’t wait to get back!

Darrell McNeill has told me about the great plans he has to take TxR to the next level and bring more out-of-state players and teams back to Houston such as bunkhouses, airport shuttles, and ease of shipping for players who wish to ship their gear directly to the event! Darrell is definitely a scenario paintball player, and is doing everything with that perspective in mind. This will truly be a players-for-players field!

The dates for next year’s Viper events in Houston are April 10th & 11th and November 13th & 14th. We are working on what themes we want to present but, rest assured, we will do everything we can to choose something everyone will enjoy! We are currently taking, and listening to, suggestions, ideas, and requests. Whether it’s something brand new, or an encore of one of everyone’s favorite past Viper events, we are eager to get busy putting together a great event for our return to Houston!

You can find more info about the field, TxR Paintball, at txrpaintball.com

Is this the field that's just off HWY 59? Going into Houston?

You're thinking of BSG. That was where we first started. However, after only three short years the games grew to hundreds of players and we outgrew the venue.

Duck!

LOL

And yeah, I think that was the first Texas event for the Crew, but Blue commanded at my 2001 T-Rev at that venue before the "Throwdown" existed.
