What to do?

What do you do when the Generals of both teams at an upcoming game ask you to play for them?

Black Market Wars are a series of 24 hour games put on at Paintball Sports N.Y. (the old Survival NY field in Plattekill)
The next one is Eastern Strike on July 10-11. The theme is Russia & Imperial Japan fighting over possesion of China.

Todd of the WarHounds is leading the Russians, He was the first to ask and really needs experienced help. He's a fellow stock player and runs under the name "Highway Pirate" so I feel a certain kinship.
Plus this is a repeat game. They held the first one in '02 and I was the Russian General at that game.

Steve of the Jersey Titans is leading the Japanese, and has asked me to be his XO. Now I was XO at the last game there, and would have given him MVP if it weren't that we gave the Titans MVT. It didn't seem right to give both awards to the same group.
These guys are the most fun, and food beyond belief. I won't go hungry with Chef doing pork loin and filet mignon in the parking lot.
Plus as XO, I get comp for entry and paint.

A possible option is to work with the field as a third entity. These games are based on Black Market Ops and run by the Master Blasters and RT's Raiders. Mercs on the field are part of the game, but whether they would allow an independent is questionable.

So, like a poll:

A) Play for the one who asked first and most needs help?
B) Play for food and comp?
or
C) If allowed, not commit to either and play independent hiring out to whichever team pays the most per hour/mission?

Gave it two days here, and one response.
One I agree with.

Only now the Russians want me as XO as well as the Japanese.

Right now, if I can get in as part of the 3rd (or 4th) entity on the field I'll go to the game.
If the field turns me down, I'll probably resolve the issue by just saying No to both teams and blow off the game.

Not going also gives me time to prepare for Pump Pandemonium the following weekend. Two 2-day games in two weeks is almost too much at my age.

Actually Pyrate I just found the thread and absolutely C. This way neither of them feels snubbed, and both can benefit from your playing.

Have the Generals play "Rock Paper Scissors" for you at the briefing...

or have the game director choose. That way he can place you where you're needed most, & neither side will take offence since it wasnt your call. As long as you're open & honest about it, I cant imagine anyone would have any hard feelings.

Actually, it looks like I'll be the General for the 3rd Entity leading the Chinese/American contingent and working with (but not part of) the Black Market.
This has endless opportunities. As an independant I am limited only by what is against the rules.

Right now it looks like the WarHounds have both Delta & Joint Fury. But the Jersey Titans may be backed up by Blues Crew. When you add Spectre and RTs Raiders running the Black Market as mercs, the very air above the field may well turn radioactive.

The wheels are already clicking...

Play for the team that needs help.

And no one should ever give 1 team two or more awards, that is just weak as hell. This is why some teams have like 50+ awards. Not to mention that most of them were given by the friends that commanded. But yeah, no one should ever get multiple awards.

Just a question: can you be XO to the first guy, the one that needs all the help? That way you help a fellow pumper while getting comped and paint.

Maybe he already has a XO, but I was just wondering.

Going only by what you stated, if you can afford to pass up the freebies, help the guy who needs it.

Either way, as XO I get comped for entry and paint.

Option A, I play for a kid who asked first, is a fellow pumper, and is in the Command Position that I myself held the first time around.

Option B, I play for a team I've known for years, and are known for having fun on & off the field, and have promised to feed me all weekend (and if you know Chef, we're talking filet mignon)

Well, I've worked my way into a position between the two, and being XO isn't good enough for me. I'll be the General for the American contingent, neutral to both sides but able to deal with each separately, allied with but not under the jurisdiction of the Chinese.
Pretty much the one man out on the field who is authorised to deal directly with the Generals of all the teams outside of the black market itself. I'll be favorable to the oppressed Chinese factor, but selling goods, services and intell to the two main teams of Japanese & Russians. And Special Weapons are pretty much U.S. made.

I will have my own bank account at the black market, which in itself is unprecedented for a single player, and plan to hold key props to be held for ransom (if I can get my paws on them).
Having done this game once before, I may have the advantage of being able to lay false trails and bit of psyops beforehand.
For good or ill, I'll be the most sought-after man on the field. I hope I'm up to it.
