The Nazis and Germans, in general, strongly embraced Wagnerian opera and the Norse myth in order to incorporate the teutonic heroic imagery into the German psyche. Using Wagnerian concepts for a German D-Day unit is appropriate. IThe D-Day game is not a reenactment but a game. So, having an all (or mostly) female unit isn't historically accurate but just plain fun.

There's no need for an argument over this, even if the history is a bit flawed. Have fun with it.

Thank you. Actually, the German society was not as enthrawled with Wagner as one might think. As we call him on D-Day, "No Name" did not like Wagner. What No Name decreed, German Society followed suit.

However, we are off topic. The topic is recruiting for the Valkyries.

As XO of the 6th (one who has 24 years military service, is Airborne-qualified, and 10 years paintball experience) let me assure you that these ladies are for real. We expect the same from them as any man on the field, no more...no less.

The 6th accepts one of the toughest assignments at D-Day....facing the 82nd and 101st at 3:1 to 4:1 odds. The 6th is expected to stay on the playing field from Game on (0900) to Game End (1700) in the OK heat and humidity.

If you want to be challanged, you can play with the Valkeries, along side them in the 6th, or meet us in the middle....the choice is yours. But if you think this is just a publicity stunt, you have sorely misjudged these players....they are for real.

If you are interested in the Valkyries or the 6th, feel free to PM BC or myself.
