Arrow Hell's Survivors - Monster Game 2017 - July 22-23

Anyone going this year? Another small contingent of Renegades is showing up, and looking to see what the thoughts are on the new rules/game style. Viper is running this as a more scenario game (including night games if you are into that).

If it's anything like the last few years it'll be slim pickings finding people to talk to. Maybe with viper running the game the numbers will be up.

I pre-regged for me and my son. I'm sure we'll be out there at some point but if the turnout and lopsided field ownership is the same as the past few years then we probably won't play all of it. Night play sounds fun though.

We've swapped sides (legitimately) before when the teams were lopsided, though we were closer to twenty-plus coming up, not a handful. Last year it felt like it came in waves of being overwhelmed, then rolling across the whole field, not bad at all.

Night play suggestions, bring some bug spray, remember the humidity goes up so a fan in your mask may be adviced. Lastly, remember at least someone on the other side will have nightvision gear and an accurate marker....

Say hello if you see any of us, we are usually over near the road side of the things, and should have the skull logo up on a shirt hanging or similar.

I have high hope for this year's monster game. Last month's Armageddon game was the there best big game in the last decade, so much more action then before. The centralized all the battles instead off having to wander around the entire field hoping you find something interesting. No more boring longball stalemates.

They are currently building up a mound in the grinder for some kind of last battle setup. Not my kind of thing, but definitely changing up the game.

I'm actually surprised about the shortened day on Sunday, just being cynical about the reduced paint usage on a shorter day....

Looking forward to playing, and see if the rule changes (medics) create a different atmosphere for playing.

But sounds like they are getting more core players there for the game, which is kind of how it felt to me last year, and that's keeping the games interesting.

If I was younger I would have been upset with the shortened Sunday game, but now that I'm older I kind of like it. The final battle was a disappointment, so much confusion. The Organiser should have used 6 colors for teams instead of 4. "There is a Red team, but there are also a Red side..." He should just use the four team colors, then use two completely different colors for when those four teams band together two create two sides. His way makes it unnecessarily confusing.

From what I understand, they actually sold more paint this year than at Global last year. Probably because the firefights were more intense and you only had to walk 200ft back to reinsert.

Re: the grinder/paint churn, I suspect you may be right, less walking, more instant battle. I wonder how they plan to do it, and not make it like a number of years back (pre-green zone) where it was a bit annoying.

Anyway, if you are going to the monster, come find us and say hello! (no matter which color you are)
