are points being scored on every half hour mark (12:30, 1:00, etc.) or does the flag have to be held for 30 consecutive minutes?

will the deadbox be a goggles off area?

I second the deadbox goggle off area...

Hup, sorry to mention that one!

Yes, each dead box will be well-separated from the flag station (so there's no confusion) and there will be a tent with netting to serve as a goggles-off area. We should be able to get plenty of supplies in there so people won't have to keep treking back and forth to the staging area. It'll help keep people on the field and the game running smoothly.

We're hoping the old folk can manage 3 hours at a stretch.

As for the flags, we're going to have to score it by whoever has posession when the clock hits top and bottom. It'd be nice to do it based on time of posession but short of having 4 chess clocks or something, I don't see how we could do that. Perhaps another year we could do something like that but not this time.

Unfortunately, if you hold the point for 29 minutes only to be overrun at the half hour mark, the other team gets the points if the flip the flag in time. We just don't have any other way, logistically, to get it done.

We're doing the final battle scoring every 5 in order to make it more like the "chess clock" type posession-scoring system. Otherwise, it's only the last 2 minutes that really matter and that's silly.

Hope that helps.

I don't mind one way or the other but at Hellsurvivorz big games every flag station has a dedicated referee that keeps record of every flag switch. They have the two flags on a pulley method.
