Got my bud Joe to register today, unfortunatly he got to me too late to catch the pre-reg discount, but doesnt matter much. Only big issue is we cant head out until Friday evening, so we will be rolling in pretty late.

Updated Rules from SCP

PPV: 2008

Army of Darkness

EMR Hosts a Pumper's Pandemonium Filled with Action, Comedy, and the Undead!
Full Sponsor's list forthcoming.
Join forces with Ash Williams (Weltman of Damage Inc.) or Evil Ash (Meph of SCP) and battle stock class style in 1300 AD (as far as I can tell).

Schedule:

Friday: Open play 2 pm until dinner/dusk
Saturday: Brief at 10 am, game on at 11-2, hour lunch, swap sides 3-6, final battle at 6:30 pm. Prize Giveaway at 7:30 pm.
Sunday: Open play at 11 am stock/open class – schedule for fields to be posted for each class in staging area

Game play:

1 base at bottom of pines
1 base at culverts behind Margaritaville
Insertions every 15 minutes from base - 2 minute window
Normal insertion points to field at Museum and Rec Center
Fields in play are Margaritaville to the pines, except the speedball field.

How to score points:

1 pull flag @ Fort war (Castle) 5 pts/ 30 min
1 pull flag @Trapper camp (Grave yard) 5 pts/ 30 min
1 pull flag @ Bone heads (Windmill) 5 pts/ 30 min
1 pull flag @ Swamp (Swamp) 5 pts/ 30 min

1 grab flag 25 yards from each base 10 pts/ return to other base

Final battle: Control the flag in the center of Firebase. 10 minutes single elimination. At signal, for 20 minutes can tag up to reinsert. Flag scored every 5 minutes.

UPDATE: ARM TAPE IS MANDATORY ON ONE ARM. TAPE ON BOTH ARMS IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.

Detailed rundown:
During the player brief, we will introduce the Ashes and ensure that both teams are relatively even. You will not have to sign up for a team ahead of time, that can be accomplished during the briefing. After the rules are laid out and the safety briefing given, each "general" will be given a few words and the crowd asked to split in two. Once the teams are relatively even, we'll hand out arm tape. The tape is optional, though you're on your honor to stay on the same side for the duration of the game.

This being Pump Pandemonium, we're going to need to rely on all the players being honest in order to keep the game fun. We're not going to put limitations on your gear (other than no semis, no pneumatic assist) so if you want to show up with your Halo-fed, autotriggered, constant air monster then that's your deal. Just be aware that the rest of us find it rather unsporting. We're structuring the game with the same emphasis on honesty and sportsmanship. Besides, if we can't trust each other to play nice, no amount of oppressive regulations are going to help.

Once teams are drawn up, we will flip a coin and the winning Ash will select the side his team gets to start on. There will be four center flags as noted above and one base flag per team. You should find that the distances between starting points and the objectives are fairly even. Each starting point will have a deadbox including a tent shelter stocked with spray bottles, paper towels and plenty of water. Players are asked to keep their spare paint and air outside of the tent but are certainly encouraged to bring it to their dead zone with them.

After three hours, we will have an hour lunch break. We do not have food vendors for this event, so collaboration on food/beverages is encouraged. We will switch sides and play for another three hours in the same format.

The final battle will be a 10/20 format. The first 10 minutes is single-elimination with a two-minute starting window. The window is not there for tag-ups but so that, if you choose, you can wait for a minute or two before entering the play field. You still get only one "life" for the first 10 minutes. After those 10 minutes are up, constant reinsertion will open and the final battle will continue for another 20 minutes. There will be a single center control flag which will be scored every five minutes. We feel that this mix gives up some very good opportunities to introduce strategy while still keeping the game objective very simple.

We have some very nice sponsors lined up for the prize giveaway. More on that at a future date.

For open play, we will publish a schedule of times and field locations. We will not waste time meeting in the staging area. Simply go to the designated field at the listed time and there will be a ref there ready to start your game with whoever shows up. We will have at least two groups - one stock class and one open class - and more can be added if we have the numbers to do so.

I have an additional correction to make to the preliminary ruleset.

File under errata:

I offer my appologies for the phrasing of the section regarding gear limitations (second paragraph under "detailed"). These were my words, personally, and as they are written do not convey what we were really trying to say about sportsmanship. I offer my appologies for the confusion.

I did not intend to say that open class markers were unsporting. What I was trying to say is that by leaving the rules open and not placing any restrictions on gear, we have left everyone with a great deal of freedom. With that freedom comes the responsibility to limit yourselves as you see fit.

The attitude and tone of pump pandemonium should be one of fraternity and cooperation. Last year, as some of you may remember, we had some ref. equipment malfunction. That, combined with miscommunication and some conclusion-jumping led to a bad misunderstanding that wasn't even cleared up until a week after the game was over. Because of that and other issues, a lot of us started talking about how we could place more restrictions and rules in place to prevent that type of thing in the future.

However, adding more rules is not the answer. The answer is simply in treating everyone with simple courtesies and good sportsmanship. If we can all play the game in good spirit then we don't need oppressive rulesets. All of the aprehension about the rules and game mechanics are about someone else exploiting a hole and ruining the fun for everyone. I think that rather than trying to shackle everyone down with lots of obscure rules, the better thing to do is to simply encourage good sportsmanship.

Allow everyone the freedom to play the game their way, temper that freedom with the good sportsmanship that our community has always had, and we'll all have a great time.

That's the message I was trying to get across and it came out absolutely wrong. I did not mean to say that it is somehow dishonorable to use an autotrigger. Rather, the freedom to play the game how you want asks that you don't abuse that freedom.

I'm very sorry for any misunderstanding and I hope that clears a few things up.

We should have the full ruleset including safety info for anyone not familiar with EMR rules plus a "plot synopsis" (if you care about that sort of thing) out by the end of the week.

No worries here mate. It's fun to do a little teasing.
I tease other riders by saying that windshields are for girls.

Been reading up on this and as luck has it my lease runs out here in Va on the 1st of the month. If I can sell some more stuff on here then I should have the money to play for the first time in roughly 2 years! You can't beat 50 bucks to play with 500 pballs.

The only thing is I don't have any pump guns here except for an old Sniper II that probably has some issues

I reckon someone here will have a decent loaner gun to use possibly in case the sniper II doesn't work out?
