Which is better: Large field or Small field?

Figured I'd start a topic for discussion-
Which do you guys prefer, and why?

Scenerio Game on SMALL Field (ie Castle Conquest)
Scenerio Game on LARGE Field (ie Coram Big Game)

In the 90s, I always preferred the large field. I found the lack of a specific skirmish line, and the freedom of movement to be a great aspect, especially when you never knew which direction the enemy, or in what number, would attack from

These days though, I prefer the small field. For the simple reason that its 100% action. You know where your enemy is. You know where to go, and what to do. A contrast to the large-field games, where you spend 95% of the day walking.

I love the small-field big games. All the ones I go to have been small-field, just because I'm too lazy to make a half-mile walk every time I get tagged out.

I wouldn't call Castle Conquest a scenario game, to me it's always been a big game.
For the Big Games, I think a small field is best, concentrates all the action.
For the Scenario Games, I prefer big field games so I can stalk people and once in a while, run into roleplayers.

I have to agree with sloonan above.

Big games on a smaller, simple, easy to navigate field.

Scenarios I prefer Large Fields with player limits to keep the action more sparse where planning out the missions is a big part of the game.

Scenarios, I prefer on a medium to large field. Room to manuvuer, as Scott said the room to stalk and interact with roleplayers, and the variety of land and terrain to make your missions happen. However, they can be tailored to work on a small field if that is all you have to work with. That is the beauty of scenario no?

I prefer a large field with varied terrain. You have a variety of terrains to play on and you have room to maneuver if you want.

I have played a majority of my games on a small scenario field. The long term, intense battles and the lines are usually stable. You fight for about 20 feet, and lose it 10 mins later.

Now the games I have played on a REALLY big field were different. Going about 10 mins of not seeing anyone except some refs. Wondering which direction is your base. Wondering if those people you see in the distance are friend or foe.

I cant say which is more fun. They both have some good things running for them.

Simple for me-

When it's really hot outside, small field.

When it's cool, big field.
