abusing the dead man walking..........either claiming to be out and not....sorry refs can't be everywhere so it's problem finding who did what..........
newbies losing their barrel sock....or digging in their pocket trying to find it......while walking out...getting bonus balled like crazy....

someone said just put two hits on the and go on...if you have a team of 10 and each puts two on a player thats 20 hits...seen it many of times...

Players shooting players who are out, just to make sure.....just plain abuse.....

If your going for points or awards....It's just better...your out or not.........

Yeah, but every situation you mentioned isn't even close to someone performing a deadmans walk. Anyone claiming to be out and coming back is NOT performing a dmw, they're cheating just like the NPPL guys who shoot under the net. Newbs losing/reaching for their barrel bag should still have their guns above their heads, signalling out. As for 10 people shooting one guy, why would ten people shoot at the same guy anyway? Sounds like, again, the dead coming out should be clearly signalling they are out, and you guys should practice a little communtication("Is that guy out?" "I don't know, shoot him and see").

I don't think I should have to force a fight/flight every time I see from the other team. If I can appear to be harmless without cheating (taking my tape off, calling myself out then shooting people, etc) then more power to me. If I get shot anyway, then I'm at fault for trying, right?

They claim the player was DMW
Happens alot.....intimidation.....abuse plain a simple.........Just like wiping...

I like a good scenario game........No DMW, this makes a better game....for here.....

"they're cheating just like the NPPL guys who shoot under the net"

I hope you never have any problems...when you do...you will wish...out or not out....

Yeah, but what you are decribing isn't a DMW, you are describing cheating.
I agree rules need to be enforced, a DMW doesn't look anything like an indication that you are out.
The people claiming DMW have no idea what a DMW is. You example proves it. What they are describing is someone calling themselves out and then playing on. That is cheating.

Do that around me and you get a ref punch and an escort to the game director. Indicating you are out is one thing, but to purposely state that someone else isn't is against the rules. It's called 'deadtalking', and every rules set says you can't do it. Not shouldn't, can't.

I do not condone the DMW, or any incarnation thereof, so I am not siding with those who do. But I will also not side with anyone else who breaks the rules.

And as for impersonating staff? That should be something that gets you banned from that promoters events. I ref. Our entire team makes it a point to not be mistaken for players. You start causing the staff/refs grief due to your dishonesty and you should not be allowed back.

I cant understand the obsession w/ DMW. It looks to me like the topic here is a bit more broad..

My 2 on this goes like this:

As a role player : If your role requires you to brief or seek the confidence of a ref on your stunt (before, during or after) it had gone to far (bad roleplaying). Unfortunately for the roleplayers at large, a high percentage of scenario refs I encounter are poorly prepared for role players - and really should be reffing recball somewhere. If the refs would dig into the rules, read and study into the mechanics of scenario reffing, I think I would feel differently, and the scenario games more interesting.

As a role player : If your stunt does not use a rule (or lack there of) as the reason it could or should work, then it is a decent stunt.

If you can look at your stunt, and feel confidentely that it is in "the spirit of the game" and complies w/ both of the above (doesnt need a ref & doesn't reply on a rule) - then its good role playing.

but don't the cheaters win then?
I refuse to see how walking aimlessly while live and not being an obvious threat created cheating. Cheaters created cheating by not following elimination rules. By your example that is exactly what happend. Don't blame a valid tactic, blame the person violating the rules. Then enforce them.

I was specifically referring to games I have been at that the Producer has said in the player briefing to do this. This was in response to live players shadowing dead players to rack up eliminations or to get general eliminations as often the insertion point is near the CP. You do not point out the live player or in any way indicate which player it is you simply state that you or that X number of players are dead and that 1 live player is some where in your group. Nothing more nothing less.

In these instances it was causing eliminated players to get shot up or bonus balled as the live player doing it would try to remain behind the eliminated players and use them as mobile bunkers or shields. First time it happened to me I just kept walking and singing out "I am Dead" that was it and my and the 4 other dead players got shot all to hell when the 2 live players trying to be sneaky decided to use us as cover before a ref yanked them.

From that point on I have made sure to ask every single producer if I do not hear them talk about it specifically in their player briefings. I have yet to have one of them tell me NOT to do this so long as I do not specificity give away who is live and who is dead in the last 8 years of scenario play. I have also never received a ref punch in that time.

That aside You said you ref scenarios, Thanks. Thats a hell of a job and generally a thankless one. You guys and gals spend a lot of time standing a round or getting shot all to hell with out getting to shoot back.
