That would be me. I had talked to the guys over there earlier in the day and it wasn't on the table. I walked passed a while later and nearly fell over. There it was, a shiny new Grey Ghost and it for sale. I asked them about it and apparently no one had shown any interest in it up where you guys are from. It was not cheap but its SOOOO nice. I had one of them walk back to the tech table with me and the first ball I shot down the range was 280. I walked back to him and handed him the money and that was that. Definitely my big score for the weekend. Ghost #288 is all mine, woohoo!

The one thing I wish I could have taken home with me is the giant mallet that we had behind the tech table. If you saw a big guy in black walking around the beach right at the start of the invasion with a mallet that was me. I wanted to play whack-a-mole with people removing goggles but sadly I never got the chance. One of the ref's up there made it and loaned it to us for the weekend, thanks dude.

since i decided to go over some of the posts here... i wanted to comment on one of 10-shots...

the chrono-ref ratio... from what I saw... EVERY ref had a chrono... and almost all of them were doing chrono checks...

I was by the understood booth all weekend, never saw the ghost... would've liked to check it out though...

I had to go by the tech booth twice (once to replace my 06 ego board, once for my team mate who won the etek2) mainly dealt with the guy with the longer hair (he was next to the EGO tech)

I had an idea that i brought up to some refs as well as players... EVERYONE was for it... so now, im posting it here to see what you guys think of it...

Take pods, pass them around to each "head guy"... "if you think the refs/workers did a good job, show them and throw a dollar or 2 in the pod"
I would've liked to see it come to fruition, but I had doubts that the tips would end up being split fairly between everyone (refs, techs, staff)

It was at the corner of the Understood table for a little while but once I saw it I didn't let it go, it left their table and didn't return. I think I may have been that tech you saw, Jerry from Eclipse was to my right side. I'm the tech with the longer black hair and I ran over the Etek2 that was won at castle nights. Sweet prize too, I have one of the older Eteks they are great machines.

1. They should do what they are paid to do.
2. We might as well pay them before the game for better calls.

Skirmish can afford hundreds of refs...

dark - yes, than you looked over my red/gold 06 pevs as well (saturday you replaced the board)

harb - i understand that they should do what they are paid to do, but I come from the train of thought that if you appreciate someones work, you should show them, something like this, "thank you" doesnt seem like enough...

i really wanted to get something going for the gun techs... but no one else wanted to (that i spoke with) and i felt like if i threw you guys a $20, it would end up being $3-$4 each.... not really a "thank you" (in my eyes)

next year, i think that should be something that happens... i know i would throw money into a tip jar for refs and a tip jar for the gun techs, even if they didnt touch my guns.

I agree about tipping for service, but tipping refs is kind of shady IMO.

Tipping refs for rec play is common place, at least in the Northeast. I have always wondered why it never caught on for scenarios (aside from the fact it would have to be a big pot that would need to be shared between all of them).
Tipping for the techs is appreciated but not required at Skirmish.

I only know of tipping for group parties like bdays.

If they just put a tip jar out for the refs at the registration building I'd throw some bucks in.
