I was considering one of those cheap china built atvs and redoing the frame and making a wider and longer wheel base. Use alot of fans to duct the heat out of the engine area....

Good luck in finding deals...
Um...I believe that they have mandated that the vehicle being driven must be 100% street legal also not to the extent of tags or anything. This is what I was hearing about for the next blanding game. That the tanks have to be basically converted cars. I'm not 100% positive on this but I believe overhearing it a few times from my captain.

One place to check out that our team has had luck with is auctions for farm equipment. They will sometimes sell them in pairs and you can buy two and sell one and basically pay for the other.

And what they say about electric golf carts is true they are very quiet and you can be very sneaky with them

I believe it varys from field to field, and scenario promoter to promoter. The local scenario field by me only allows ATV/Golfcart sized tanks. Of course his trails aren't wide enough for a full sized vehicle anyways. Now if you convert an ATV watch your center of gravity. The one I made a few years ago...

...was built around a 350cc Polaris ATV. Once the shell was built the center of gravity moved up about a foot, and made the whole thing rather tippy. One of the reasons I never got around to building a turret, it was scary enough to drive without making it even more top heavy. Putting some weights on the bottom or on the wheels might help.

Rumbings from insurance companys.....Heavy full sized tanks maybe on the way out...A lot easier to pick a atv/golf cart based tank off of a player or the crush factor is not as much....Think light weight with big balloon tires.....

Most fields/promoters are not allowing or thinkng about not allowing tracked tanks......

Or you could just make a walk along. Cheaper and lighter to build, and the rules are less restrictive on them since they are only human powered and not motorized.

Ok I was thinking of this
150cc Full Size Utility Cart
A little more than what I wanted to spend but it looks like it would be pretty easy to build off of.

Anyone check out the link? You think this would make a good base model?

Might work.
If you'd want to add a turret to it I'd also recommend moving the spare tire to the front along with adding some additional weight there.

on second thought

"Weight Capacity 600 lbs."

ouch.

50lbs of netting and armor.
450 pounds of players
160 pounds of guns, paint, and air
------------------------------
660 lbs.

probably not feasible.

You can always stretch the wheel base......

"Weight Capacity 600 lbs."....as long as your not racing in the baja...you will be ok....

Fubarius, On the 350cc Polaris ATV put dual wheels front and back....No tippy over then....
