Ray.. you're too funny.... the first marriage kept me from running off at the mouth because she would just deny me. The second marriage I can run off at the mouth but I better have a good reason too.... which is why I removed my original statement .. in the long run there was no good reason for it to be there.

I can see where Schmitti and Grendel are coming from. It would be easier to understand you if you'd just cowboy up and specifically call out the people that you want to call out. Otherwise if you expect us to believe that one or two teams and producers have ruined scenario for the rest of everyone, well, you're free to believe that but I don't think anyone else is buying.
I don't think he needs to name names. That would just turn into a huge drama fest. I know what hes talking about and I can probably guess at most of the teams and people he is referring to.

This is along the lines of the pros/marketing teams/celebrity generals stuff.

Our celebrity general X "knows how the game is played. However, he is always at the front leaving the XO to run things".

To me that says" Your celebrity general knows jack ****, will rely upon a veteran XO and his team and friends teams, so he can go be irresponsible at the front lines for obvious reasons like marketing and he doesn't know jack.

Then there is the "Team X won an award" Oh, really. Team X only played like 8 of the 20 or so hours, ran no missions, scored no points, but did some damage gunning. I will bet money if Team X was not sponsored or marketable they would have received no love from the press.

So why do all these people get the love? Because their sponsors basically run the media. Why would they put some no names in the media for doing an excellent job when they can just please the sponsors.

In another thread in another section someone said that people put logos of the photographers and sponsors everywhere so they would have more pics take of them. What the hell happened to just doing a good job.

On top of that per our team's bylaws we will accept no sponsorship from anyone. There are those of us out here who are not swayed by the political powers in the sport. We play when we want, where we want and with whom we want for the shear joy of playing.
Teams like ours are becoming less common. A lot of teams now are milking the marketing stuff for everything it is worth and then some. I don't like it. Play the game how it should be played. If you get awards and press cool, if not I have a cold beer for you.

I for one do not want to see scenarios and big games monetized further.

My bunch just plays for the fun of it. We try to do whatever's necessary, but we like running missions. I honestly don't give a rat's behind about sponsored teams getting all the glory. We have a banner and the only "sponsors" we have are a field we used to play at a lot and a small courier company that one of the guys owns.

I personally don't think that anyone should be playing if they're not having fun.

I, for one, could not give less than a crap about who does what for whom and what they get out of it. Can't we just play the freaking game without making a big deal out of everything?

It's like listening to my 11 yo daughter when she has a sleep over, drama drama drama.

My sentiments exactly. Come play have fun. If part of the fun is getting sponsors, picture in magazines....etc fine but the important part come play and have fun how you get you jollies I do not care.

That's what the op was all about. I questioned posting this here, it was written for PBN not the membership of this forum. Then I figured I'd get better conversation over here, apparently not.

I think some people do not fully understand what is going on in Scenarios and really make things worse by assuming they know what is going on.

I want to have fun as much as the next guy, but I am sure my definition of fun is different than most. Hell my goals for my own fun have changed a good bit in the last 2 years.

I had to change my style and goals because what used to be fun is no longer fun. Drama, politics, dumbing down the game, and monetizing everything for the media whores and whatnot seriously irritated me.

So now I hardly do what I was once known for because all the bull**** outside of the actual game ruined it.

It shouldn't irritate you though dude, because it is hilarious on an epic level. It's like people taking the internet seriously. Go watch king of kong, it will totally raise you spirits back up.

I saw it a few months back. I really liked it when the governing body broke into the dudes garage to examine his machine.

I don't let any of it bother me as much this year. I have pretty much decided that I still have the option of where to play and with whom. However, I do still have issues regarding what is going on.

I do find it funny that people are all about awards now. I also love how the industry thinks celebrity generals have any clue of whats going on. I do take that as an insult to the many teams and players that have been doing this for over a decade. Look we have Tourney SuperStar X generaling. Ok fine, but why does his veteran XO do all of the work. Why not just advertise it as tourney guys will be playing for the veteran?

You know why :P What I find more intresting is why do we really care all that much? We all know what's going on, as does everyone at that game. The minute you start caring you run into what you did, your goals and style become no longer fun. Espicially when sooner or latter you get targeted which is almost inevitable if your not apart of the, going back to king of kong, mullet headed dudes group.

So just see it for what it is man. A totally hilarious situation. If someone made a good paintball documentary it would honestly mirror king of kong almost to a T.

Play for the love of the game and to be the best at what it is you do man, there's no point in worrying about anything else. Laughing on the other hand can be a barrle full of monkeys fun.
