Liquid electrical tape aka plastic dip would work the same as nail polish, but nail polish is cheaper. An o-ring slot milled into the barrel neck aka Azodin barrels sometimes work.

For the bolt not resetting after hitting your squeegee you need to move up in carrier size not down. If your at 1.5 (1 line & 1 dot) move to 2.0 (2 lines no dot). Just an FYI the carrier shims only...

Yup, I have 5 in mine since 6 will make the ULT stick out to far an not allow the valve to be reinstalled properly. I've heard people say they installed 7 with out a problem.
