Yup, that's exactly how they work. They're really nice overall. The plug that the ASA screws into fits very tightly into the stand, so there's no wobble. The only complaint that I could make about it...

I'll go outside the box a bit and recommend the Bob Long Marq series. A bit older, but they are fantastic shooters. As per all BL guns, they can be a bit finnicky, but they shoot really nice.
