Its kind of the same deal as with early Jeeps. Civilian models started with the Agrijeep (only 4 still known to exist) The next civilian model was named the CJ-2, followed Closly by the CJ-2A (which is typicly considered the first "true production" civilian model). Followed by the CJ-3A (assuming there was a CJ-3, but only in prototype form) Followed by the CJ-3B (high hood). Then came the CJ-4 prototype, and the project X jeeps ( Both thought to be vaporware until the mid 90s. Military CJ4s, in short and long were lable with the X, however some speculate there was only a civilian short verson that was doctered to look military in photos, a long verson does however exist) Flowed by the CJ-5, CJ-6 (long CJ-5) THen so on and so forth.

Its not a streach to say that there never was a K1, but the K-2 was the "second" attempt at a rifle and the designation stuck, just as with Jeeps, as there never was a CJ-1, however some people have labled, incorectly, the Agrijeep as one.

this has been some interesting reading.

i agree with Carter. i think of them as more of a prototype series and when sheridan got the bugs worked out of the prototypes they went into full production and designated the gun as a K2.

or, maybe the original configuration (long barrel) guns were going to be called K1's, and since the original configurations had velocity issues, they were altered (barrels shortened). Sheridan then decided to call the altered version a K2, and that's what went into production.

just a thought...

I have to weigh in on this thread a little.
When the picture first showed up at MCB, I called Tim and had a very similiar conversation to the one quoted earlier.
Especially this part-

"The factory was feeding me these long guns to sort out and I kept cutting them off to 13" and dual CO2 converting them. They shot too good. The factory wanted to make them work with a single 12 gram & 21" barrel and I told them to dream on. It wasn't going to happen. Physically impossible."

After I talked to Tim about this, I was inspired to see if this was so. The result of that is known as the "Death Gun" and it has claimed many victims.
It has siblings too.
If there is an efficiency loss, it is minimal.

I've read all of this to figure out what exactly I have ?

A long wooden stocked bolt action Sheridan rifle, without a pump, that takes 1 CO2 and having an 11 3/4" feed tube on the right side with the stock going almost to the end of the feed tube, with only one sight that is the small pin style on the end of the 13" barrel.

It also has no Markings or serial numbers.

So any answers ?

I know, I know PICS, I will post them tomorrow
